To colonize a planet
Hey guys,

I was wondering could somebody tell me how this one works?

Only way to colonize that is to terraform the planet. That will remove the tile blockers. (It's a bit silly I know, hope they eventually fix that)
Mansen Mar 5, 2017 @ 4:09am
Fix what exactly? The planet is fully colonized. Where would you land - on top of the population? Either terraform or enlighten the species living there - working as intended.
NixBoxDone Mar 5, 2017 @ 4:15am
You can't enlighten them - they're presentients. The only way to enlighten them is to uplift them and you can't uplift them unless you colonise the planet.

Catch-22.

Ah okey, ill try and go terra-forming it then, also wow..... i totally forgot about terraforming, so yeah thanks for that :)
Say good bye to those pre-sentients. They will all die if you terraform.
But yeah, terraform is pretty much your only choice for this planet.

Pre-Sentient species die if you terraform the planet they inhabit? Is that true?
I usually just purge everything that stands in my way so i have no idea if thats true.

Yeah, they do. You're basically starting a series of massive, man-made natural disasters to nudge the climate of the planet closer to what you want. Think about it as controlled global warming/cooling, etc. tt.

As the presentients are both accustomed to the system that was there before (and the plant and animal life that thrived in that environment), even if the upheaval and the changed climate don't kill them, it's likely to kill everything they know how to catch/find to eat.

You're the next ice age. :D

That's also why all the tile blockers disappear - they represent dangerous lifeforms and huge sprawling woods/jungles and rock formations, most of which gets flattened either by the process or by your engineers DURING the process to prepare for future buildings, further removing natural environments for the native species.

Build a Frontier outpost around the star and then uplift them. Just need them in your borders to uplift. After it is done, destroy the outpost

So given how i understood your explanation...
I either purge them via a long and brutal process as they have their world torn apart.
Or i just colonize the planet after having every hability tech and what not and personally purge them myself. This is what usually since i never realized i could purge the pops by terraforming

...

The last time I played a game with uplifting was around January - at least back then, the uplifting required the presentients to be on a planet you colonised. Having them within your borders was NOT enough.

Can't confirm if they changed that back, though.

Yeah, if your goal is to get rid of them in the end, the humane way would be to purge them manually (think mass executions) rather than terraforming.

Depending on how many tile blockers there are and how good your terraforming game is, terraforming may actually be cheaper though.

Afaik it also doesn't come with the "murdered potentially smart critters" moral outrage. The galaxy treats it as if nature wiped them out - you just nudged that tsunami and one or two of the volcanos along a bit. ^^

Well the thing is i tend to not care what the galaxy thinks of me since i tend to cleanse little under 100 systems and terraform that for my own people.

As horrible as this is, you could just use console commands to kill one of those pops, and then immediately settle in it's place. You'd have to be fast, though, otherwise the space will just grow back.

Begin by having a colony ship already in orbit. Save the game first and pause at the 2nd of the month (to give you ample time for this).

Select "~" on your keyboard to bring up the console and punch in "debugtooltip". You can repeat this command to toggle it off again when ur done.

Select one pop hover over it with your cursor--note the number that says, "ID". Might say something like, "ID 556076". Just remember this number or write it down.

Now type, "kill_pop [ID #]". The command should look something like, "kill_pop 556076".

The pop will be gone, so immediately colonize the space. You can now both uplift the native species and remove all the tile blockers the usual way.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some ppl are super against the console commands because they're immersion breaking, but when the game deals you a completely unfair hand like this, your choices are limited. Hope this helps.

EDIT: I just realized a much simpler way would just be to select the planet and input, "planet_size 20" into the console. That planet size is 18, so this would give you two extra blank spaces to settle and grow.

If you have a pop, such as one you conquered, that can colonize specific planets, then you can colonize their type of planets with just them

If you have just Synths then it would be easy as if I'm right Synths can colonize anywhere

I just terra formed it :)

Thanks for the help though guys!
