Game wont start (SOLVED)

Since last update I cant start the game. Every time I try to open it I first have to updated and once it finishes updated a window pop out saying "1 file failed to validate and will be reaquired" or "1 problem appeared while uploading TBS2 disk read error". I have already verified game cache, reinstalled the game and had my hard drive check. '
Edit: It turns out I had to reinstall the game with my anti virus turn off... go figure.

Well, you've done all the checks and troubleshooting that make sense. Beyond this, something seems to have gone wonky with Steam. Have you by any chance played on any of the beta branches, like the 'survival' branch, recently? Sometimes switching branches can confuse Steam. The only other thing I can think of would be to uninstall the game, and manually browse to the install folder to make sure it's really gone, then reinstall it. I hate to ask you to reinstall again, though, as it's a pretty big download.

I havent tried the survival at all, I had no issues before the update, I will try to uninstall and look for that folder tomorrow, thanks for the reply.

I uninstalled and installed again, now I have another problem. Everytime I start the game it opens in the window mode and the screen gets all red and says "CONSOLE ERROR", what can I do?
Edit: It only stays on for 1 second, then it closes it by itself.

I dont know how to do that, unless it is a preset, no, I haven't. Already solved though was the antivirus for some reason.

Open webroot, then in PC Security go to settings. You will be in a window that says "Scan and Shields", move to the one that says "Block/Allow files" there will be a file called "nativesteamwork..." instead of blocking it choose to allow it. Webroot thinks it is a virus for some reason, hope this works for you.

Oh my, webroot thinks that steamworks is a virus? I think that steam support should contact them, cause this is a problem not related specifically with Banner Saga then!

Meh. It's a DRM. But one of the more harmless, for sure.
