Red and green numbers on attack

Hi, sometimes when i click to attack an enemy the number showing how much damage I'll do to armor or health is highlighted in red or green. I guess red indicates reduced damage and green is a boost, but what do they actually mean?

For example, if I have a choice of attacking one of two enemies and the damage I'm going to do is the same, is there an advantage to attacking when the indicated damage is highlighted green rather than red? Thanks.

Yes, red/green means that an ability (passive or active) or an item is affecting the stat-system in a negative/positive way, view from player's POV.

No. The numbers (in red, green or white) are the final numbers. So, hit for largest damage, regardless of color! ;)

So if enemies set up a shield wall then armor damage appears in red?

As long as I see the final damage that's what counts though, thanks for confirming.
