I for one see through the eyes of Egil! I have no combat experience, and Im an altruist at heart always wanting to do the right thing! So to eliminate his perspective is like cutting out the character I appreciate and invoke the most! I think most of us feel the same way, we look towards Egil as the person we will likely be in the circumstance. Just a youngster who wants to help in any way without knowing all the dangers and being comfortable making hard decisions.
Young and Naive with Potential is Egil! and They shouldnt just make him a Unit! His story is just as important as Rook/Allette, Ivar and Odd.
OMG! Im so happy you mentioned this! Everytime I have to send Odd as a Choice' I get scared she will die! I hope she at least lives long enough to have a child! (whether with rook or not, she deserves a family to carry on her bloodline so I hope she makes it to the end!)
Also Allette with Ludin feels so natural! (Just my Guess!) :)
Hrrmmm... Ludin improved in Saga2 quite a bit compared to Saga1 (it's definitely not the wisp of a moustache!), but I don't think he's quite there for Alette yet
And don't forget Folka
Yeah, I like the direction that the game takes with Gil and Alette. I wonder if the dialouge option you choose when he confronts you (if you play as Alette) will have an impact in the banner saga 3
As for other love interests, there seems to be a significant lack of characters that I could see as romanceable, especially for Rook: Nid is probably still married (I don't know if she ever mentions her husband), and Yrsa is a bit too crazy (though I suppose it could work).
For Alette there's Eirik (though they barely know each other, I'm pretty sure), Tryggvi (same problem as Yrsa), Hogun (married) and Ludin (could work, but they are probably too different).
Alette and Egil is adequate in that regard and they keep it on the backburner as they should. I would assume the same goes for Rook and Oddleif. I don't think there will be many other options for companionship for the two as most people they knew well are presumably dead. Forging companionships while fighting stone men on the road with strangers doesn't really leave room for love, IMO.
There is no better man for Alette than Gil. Ludin would fold under the pressure, Tryggvi is a lunatic, Hogun died for me so whatever, Eirik is as old as her father? Gil is love, Gil is life.
I have the feeling that whatever world is left over at the end of BS3, Alette/Rook (if they survive) will be slated for a leadership role. And what better way to integrate Alette into ruling then to have her marry the prince? This would not likely be a "romance" so much as a political marriage. But who knows, Ludin is becoming more respectable. Just my thoughts.
I hope this is the case; I think they would make a strong family.
I think Nid talks about the death of her husband and taking on a larger role.
But idk, do you think our "Raven Leaders" Bolverk and Folka will be the first married Varl couple! Maybe they can "save" the Varl Race... ;)
