The Banner Saga 2
A Banner Love Interest?!
SPOILER

------

SPOILER

I wish there was more choices when it comes to my love interests! I enjoy Oddlefs company but she cant have children so who will carry on our banner? I really like Nid as well as her children could become my three heirs! Also Yrsa is a cool idea for a companion as after the 1st game she becomes a real asset. Whenever anything weird happens on the road I consult her first! I dont talk to Hakon, Juno, or Iver but Yrsa and she hasnt been wrong yet! (But she maybe in love with the Prince, that bastard!) Also theres Juno that could be an interesting love affair because we dont know how evylind would feel and we dont know if she would actually love him or if shes just controlling him! I think the few times she shows emotions is when shes with Rook; (but she also hints that if he isnt the best leader she will replace him, *which makes me think about what happened to Vognirs death before Hakon takes over as King of the Varl.)

Anyways.... I hope they introduce more love choices that will lead, (sadly), to more deep character deaths! I think it hurt us most to lose Allette because we loved her as a daughter as well as a love interest for Egil, (maybe even a love interest for Ludin as the leader and future princess of the human race!)

Please include more of this in the next story!!! :D

(BUMP if you SUPPORT! or write your own Fan Fiction!)

PS! They need to put Egil back in the story! He has the chance to die early in BS1 but if hes still with you hes the only person whose traveled with you from your 1st village once Ivar leaves! So I think he should play a prominent role in Rooks Heirarchy and have a new found role in BS3!

I for one see through the eyes of Egil! I have no combat experience, and Im an altruist at heart always wanting to do the right thing! So to eliminate his perspective is like cutting out the character I appreciate and invoke the most! I think most of us feel the same way, we look towards Egil as the person we will likely be in the circumstance. Just a youngster who wants to help in any way without knowing all the dangers and being comfortable making hard decisions.

Young and Naive with Potential is Egil! and They shouldnt just make him a Unit! His story is just as important as Rook/Allette, Ivar and Odd.

Somehow, I like this game a lot more without shipping and fanfiction being involved.

Oddleif retains her place in the "unkillable" characters of The Banner Saga, so Rook has a guaranteed love affair. In contrast, I wonder what happens with Alette's love affair if Egil does not make it to Lauga godstone...

OMG! Im so happy you mentioned this! Everytime I have to send Odd as a Choice' I get scared she will die! I hope she at least lives long enough to have a child! (whether with rook or not, she deserves a family to carry on her bloodline so I hope she makes it to the end!)

Also Allette with Ludin feels so natural! (Just my Guess!) :)

Hrrmmm... Ludin improved in Saga2 quite a bit compared to Saga1 (it's definitely not the wisp of a moustache!), but I don't think he's quite there for Alette yet :steammocking:

Egil and Alette is enough I think. More despair, less hope in saga...

And don't forget Folka:steamhappy:

Yeah, I like the direction that the game takes with Gil and Alette. I wonder if the dialouge option you choose when he confronts you (if you play as Alette) will have an impact in the banner saga 3
Actually, Oddleif just said that she and the village chief couldn't have children. It could be that she's infertile, sure, but could also be that it was him, or even just terrible luck, as it sometimes takes people many, many years of trying to have children.

As for other love interests, there seems to be a significant lack of characters that I could see as romanceable, especially for Rook: Nid is probably still married (I don't know if she ever mentions her husband), and Yrsa is a bit too crazy (though I suppose it could work).
For Alette there's Eirik (though they barely know each other, I'm pretty sure), Tryggvi (same problem as Yrsa), Hogun (married) and Ludin (could work, but they are probably too different).

As a father IRL, I couldn't allow Alette to fight a Sundr so Rook died in TBS1 for me. It makes sense for there to not be much love going on. The leader of the caravan has more important things to worry about. I get the feeling they will be leading more than a caravan come TBS3!

Alette and Egil is adequate in that regard and they keep it on the backburner as they should. I would assume the same goes for Rook and Oddleif. I don't think there will be many other options for companionship for the two as most people they knew well are presumably dead. Forging companionships while fighting stone men on the road with strangers doesn't really leave room for love, IMO.

I think Alette and Ludin could work based off the development of the characters in the second game. Alette needs someone besides Egil imo, just cause its so easy for him to die. Oddleif basically never dies.

Gil is the damn rock that holds the caravan together. He aggros everyone so they all break their weapons against his shield wall while Alette chews away their health with overwatch (provided they have enough armor, otherwise they just skip their turn like an idiot when she pushes them back).

There is no better man for Alette than Gil. Ludin would fold under the pressure, Tryggvi is a lunatic, Hogun died for me so whatever, Eirik is as old as her father? Gil is love, Gil is life.

I agree with all the Alette/Egil love going on but I have a feeling that Ludin (if alive) will be a romance option in BS3. There's a scene where Ludin is talking about all the ways his journey has made him grow and if Alette jams him up with "Well, what are you going to do with that knowledge?" he says something like "You have a charming way of humbling me." (Not sure if Rook receives the same response). Also lets not forget the kings immediate response to meeting Alette, "Ludin, you can show me your country girl later!" Old jackass.

I have the feeling that whatever world is left over at the end of BS3, Alette/Rook (if they survive) will be slated for a leadership role. And what better way to integrate Alette into ruling then to have her marry the prince? This would not likely be a "romance" so much as a political marriage. But who knows, Ludin is becoming more respectable. Just my thoughts.

I find gil kinda boring lol. I think Alette/Ludin is interesting and would go for it even though I like Yrsa/Ludin dynamic more. Ludin is diferent when comes to Yrsa lol

I hope this is the case; I think they would make a strong family.

I think Nid talks about the death of her husband and taking on a larger role.

But idk, do you think our "Raven Leaders" Bolverk and Folka will be the first married Varl couple! Maybe they can "save" the Varl Race... ;)
