Any way to kill Rugga? (spoilers)
I really hate him, want to execute his ass really bad.

(Spoiler bellow)

I ended up attacking the king because I refuse to leave the Varl outside, but it guts me that i played right into that snake rugga's gameplan. (Lundin died in my playthrough).

The first thing the king does is inviting the Varls, not you. And during the conversation he asks you why would he let you in.
I'm even surprise the varls stay outside with you.
That's one reason I decided to get in, to stay with them.
Is Ludin alive in your playthrough?

No Ludin means no Varls getting into the city. Might make your own decision on who to side with a little complicated. It's been noted the several times Ludin can die in the first game but he can die in the second also.

Also, to answer the original question, as of now no one seems to have encountered any instances of being able to kill Rugga (though you can execute his guard Dagr). Seems he is slated for events in Banner Saga 3. Keep that anger ready for the next game!

I minimised the game and I can't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ decide whether to side with Rugga or the King. They both suck

If you don't side with the King that effictively means you're against the Varl since the Varl side with the king
If Ludin is alive, then varls side with king.
If Ludin is dead, then vals side with Rugga.
If you don't want to fight varls, you should side with their ally.

So if you want to side with Rugga, then you better let Ludin to cut dredges during the siege and let him die.

Decided to go with the King for exactly that reason. Ludin was still alive and I'm not going to side against the Varl after all we've been through. I hope we'll stumble upon a hidden group of Varl in the third game because the herd is getting a bit thin. I don't want them to go extinct

After all we've been through i never thought the Varl could decide to go against me, or with Rugga!

i could never kill Hakon, Ludin is growing on me too
they might both suck but the king is the lesser of 2 evils here

I recall a moment early in the game during the moment Eyvind is holding up the land bridge. During a moment of exhaustion, you can choose to let a supply wagon fall or have a land mass supporting Rugga and his men fall.

I was playing the good Rook that run, so I don't know what happens if you let Rugga fall. Could be your way to get rid of him.

The whole thing wasn't that well done in my opinion. To me it wasn't even clear that siding with Rugga (Ludin lived in my playthrough) automatically meant going against the Varl, so I had to reload. Maybe I just missed something but I hadn't noticed that Hakon and the King had already settled there business by then and formed an alliance. I was under the impression that siding with Rugga meant siding against the King with my whole caravan, including the Varl.
That's a general problem I have with the game SOMETIMES. I enjoy the "randomness" or uncertainty of some of your decisions because you never truly know what might happen but there are some decision where you don't even really know the things you're deciding on. Sometimes you have 2 statements and 2 questions to choose from and asking a question somehow leads to making a certain decision instead of giving you information to make a better decision. This is just one example. There are plenty more things like that in the game.

I let him fall during my second playthrough. Most of his men fall but Rugga manages to get to safety and survive, unfortunately.

Yeah on my playtrough Ludin died (without wanting to spoil much I am pretty sure Rugga was behind it, I executed his bodygard for it)

So when I saw the king he blamed the varl for his son death as he was under their protection. If I sided with the king I would have to fight the Varl.

So I sided with Rugga, despite the fact that he had just tried to kill me hours before. I was doing my imported Allete so the wholle condescending tone he uses with your main character really gets on your nerves. I hope there was some event where I could just bloody execute him. I'm sure we'll meet again on Banner Saga 3... (evil grin)

I will never go with Rugga. He hired ravens to be protected from his own people and now wants to be king. The true King looks ok to me, he cant let all these people in the city, cause starvation will come.

I really want to kill Rugga. I hate that guy.
Since i'm usually not a total annihilation massacre guy, it means it a well written character.

Count me in, too, in the Who-wants-to-kill-Rugga? list! :Northmen:

As Rook, I wanted to kick his ar$e for giving me so much trouble in Boersgard. As Alette, I wanted to put an arrow through his eye because of his attitude.

I think he could be even better written, if: (a) it was made clear from the start that he's a strong ally, e.g. by a display of some sort, (b) he attempted to be amiable instead of always haughty and intimidating with that mute guard, Dagr, and (c) there was some proof that he actually holds sway in Arberrang and in the caravan. The way he "bailed out" of Boersgard and then shows up with that nerve doesn't help in any of the a-b-c mentioned above.
