I don't have him, at least not for the TBS1 playthough I arbitrarily chose when importing into TBS2.

It is strange that Egil is somehow alive and Yrsa is dead is now a canon.

Correction: Egil is present for me. /Ekkil/ is not.
Yrsa, the fire/witch-tease archer is present for me. I've been using Nid for archer duty though. (Playing as Rook for the first play through.)

Import save or start from zero?

-nothing- can keep Egil down!

Import save. I don't see a reason to play with her though. I used her early on in TBS1, since her slag/firepit could do strengh damage to any opposing force. And O* clan cheif wife was good for essentially gaining an extra turn. But later on, it was all Alette (since she is a forced hero in the Bellower fight) and upon the Nid pickup, I foced on getting her leveled up, and Nid is all I'm using in TBS2, at least so far.
Yrsa was hardly an important hero. iirc there was that one quick converstation with her in the camp, and that was it. So I'm not suprised it may have been dropped from the non-import routes in lieu of some newer heros.

But she is good for strategy. You create a fire and the enemy gets burned. Then you use Ludin's piercing ability to push even even further adding bleeding damage. After that you use any varl with "push with shield" ability and the enemy will not only recive addintional bleeding damage but also will get extra from the remaining fire on the ground. It is so damn effective against any foe.

Egil is still alive but he's completly left out of the story. Not once in the entire game did i get to talk to him. I don't know if this becuase i continued with Rook instead of Alette.

If you play Alette, he gets as far as I remember 2 dialogs. One of them (near the end of the game) is relatively story important. You can easely guess that it's about though.

@OP -- You imported a Saga1 save where Egil had died and he appeared alive in Saga2?

Due to the use of the word kill I assume you mean Ekkil

You will be pleased to know there is a way to still use this strategy in TBS2 without her, via additional skill choice when ranking to level 6, at least for Nid.

True, you can obtain this ability via other archers. However rank 1 is still worse than rank 3 and you need tons of renown to reach level 10 and unlock second rank 3. And it really doesn't matter since I managed to find my save and import it. Actaully Yrsa plays relatively major role. In my playthrough she was the one who used fire on Bolverk to make him return to his senses, thus, avoiding the fight with Hakon. . Additionaly, you have several dialogues with her and she gives good advice during some random events.

Personally I think Yrsa is the best archer (other than Alette once she gets overwatch because overwatch is insanely overpowered) - she has 3 armor break unlike the other archers with only 2, and even if she has the lowest strength she doesn't really need it because she just spams slag and burn anyway and she has better armor than other archers.

In banner saga 1 of course you won't make much use of Yrsa after the early game.. because there's literally only the bellower fight that you even have the option of using her in after chapter 3 (given the option I'd gladly use her in other fights too, but you simply can't). Personally I like using her in the bellower fight anyway because she has 3 armor break on a ranged attack - I generally put the +3 armor break item on her and she can slag and burn an enemy to do 2 damage and 6-8 armor break (depending on how much will you spend) plus sometimes a bit of extra damage from the fire and/or AoE.

In banner saga 2 there's a new item that gives +5 armor break -5 strength damage +2 movement iirc. that's absolutely perfect for her too (it won't prevent the strength damage from slag and burn and she can absolutely destroy an enemies armor with slag and burn really easily).

Wonderful. What's name of the item? I haven't stumbled upon it before in my playthrough of banner saga 2.
