Eirik is back?
I'm 30 days in, playing through for the first time after just beating Part 1, in Chapter 3 I allowed Eirik to return to Strand, but just noticed he's back in Alette's caravan. I'm not sure if he's been back since the beginning..I imported my save and I hear there are smoe bugs with that, did he just come back with no fanfare, or is this a bug?

There is indeed a bug with that, which also causes issues with how the game handles imports with Ekkill and Griss.

Giopeppe has recently made a BS1 fixpack[stoicstudio.com] for that.

You should check out his BS2 mod[stoicstudio.com] as well.

Thanks, I might download those and then replay BS1 again before continuing with 2 as my caravans are a bit unbalanced as I never really touched Krumr in Part 1 and Fasolt only saw a little action..plus I beat the crap out of Mogun. So I might ensure those 2 Varl get some more kills.

While I don't want to discourage more playthroughs, I'll point out that kills made during Training count for promotion purposes. You don't get any renown (except when completing training challenges in BS2), but they do count for promoting.

Also, no spoilers, but Eirik does have a unique ability he has the chance to acquire in BS2 that makes him more useful than you'd expect.

Did not know about the training kills, but I'm fine sending Eirik away, while a new one will make some changes to how much I can promote units and how much renown I get, I want to keep the choices of my "blind" run to continue on with for Banner Saga 3, I can do "perfect" runs later on.

I have the same issue: Eirik appears after I ordered people chop wood (he "returns" along with other teammates that have axes apparently).

1. Is the mod updated to use with the latest patches?
2. Is there a way to fix the issue myself provided I can unpack and edit the script\text files (or maybe via editing the save)?

It's a shame the game has such issue. It wasn't there before: when the game was released my first run was without Eirik and with chopping wood as well.

UPD: Found all the answers in another thread. Patch for TBS1 fixed the issue.

Moreover, I'd like to note that for some reason I was unable to download the latest 1.41 version of the TBS2 patch from Stoic forums. Google drive link there gives error 400. And the nexus page holds previous version. Hope they'll update it on nexus soon. I don't have an account on Stoic forums so maybe someone should inform the patch devs.

!But my best hope is that all the fixes are going to be integrated in TBS1 and 2 because I consider issues like the one we have here to be extremely serious and game-breaking, especially for players who are not into all these shaman-style file editing and patch-making discourse.

I have the same problem. After the river fight Eirik shows up in my caravan, tried installing the patch fix for banner saga 1 thinking it might solve it, but it didn't work. In the BS1 save it says "1_eirikgone": "1", so I do not think it is a problem of the save. I also tried choosing option 3 so i could avoid the fight, but it plays like option number 2 and i lose varls and fighters

The question is: is there any alternative method to fix this bug and send eirik home? (Like modifying the save files) or is it necessary for me to install the BS2 mod?

I actually did install only patch for TBS1, not TBS2 (because the link for the latest TBS2 version patch didn't work for me). Then I started a TBS1 save of Rook going to Stravvhs stone with Juno to get metal for magic arrow. And I also redid the Bellower battle just in case. Then I imported a save to TBS2 and redid the beginning and everything was fine. Hope it helps.

You can edit-out Eirik from you save-file, yes. Just delete his name from the Roster (and the Party) of the Skogr caravan. Finally, make sure that if there's a global variable called "eirik_state", its value should be zero.
