Eyvind and Juno (MAJOR SPOILERS)
So, in the first game I think Bellower is actually chasing after Eyvind and not Iver. While Iver is a nice added revenge bonus, Bellower mostly wants revenge for Eyvind and Juno betraying him, causing the darkness and making the Dredge die and flee from their homes. The Dredge are probably mostly peaceful but two humans are responsible for destroying their homes so of course they are going to retaliate. They aren't just fleeing, but getting revenge.

Also, it seems the Valka are on good terms with the Dredge. Zefyr can communicate with them and Juno was working with Bellower until she betrayed him. The Valka probably had a secret peace treaty with the Dredge during the Second Great War. Bellower feels they broke that trust and destroyed their homes(he probably thinks it was all menders and not just the lone wolves Juno and Eyvind). Also Juno stole Bellower's immortality ability and used it on herself so she can't die.

Eywind and Juno are the cause of all this and I don't know if they had good intentions for it, but it backfired big time.

Yup, Bello is definitely pi$$ed at Eyvind; that becomes quite clear in Saga2. Not sure if he hates Juno as much; maybe just because he hates all Valka by now, or because he thinks that Juno "forced" Eyvind to do whatever he did.

However, I don't think Juno "stole" anything from Bello. It's the Serpent that's pi$$ed off at Juno (completely ignoring Eyvind at that), but we're not sure what _that_ is all about.

While I'm not making any assumptions about the plot of BS 3. I NEVER trusted Juno and expect the absolute worst of her, everything she says and does makes me distrust her. And there are some many times she pulled the assinine "this is not for you to know line" or some variant and if there's one thing I've learned from more then two decades of fiction reading is NEVER to trust someone who uses that line.

While that is true, it's also a common practice in fiction to hide the true motives for suspense, so that you're left with "all the rest" in order to judge a character. I'm sure Stoic will attempt this as well, in Saga3!

while it is common practice in fiction. It's most circumstances a very stupid thing to do, it sows mistrust and in turn, even if your goals, actions and intentions are good can lead to all sorts of problems, including those left in the dark getting involved and ruining your plans because they had no idea what you were doing.

Well, that's what good writers are paid to do -- make the narration interesting, intriguing and sufficiently mysterious, in order to keep the reader going and wanting to find out more, but without having the characters look/act stupid or shallow.

It's like the Last Jedi, had Holdo just told the rebels what the plan was half the movie would become moot. It can be interesting though, like trying to figure Juno's motives in this (not trying to compare my current favourite series to those dreadful movies). Stoic's team is well above the disney writers and I've no doubt that the final installment of the banner saga will be an exciting conclusion, tying up the threads of the narrative.:Arberrang::Dredge::Longship::Northmen::BlackSun::theHunted::theVast:
