FOR LINUX PLAYERS....
For Linux haters out there have fun getting EA/DICEand Microsoft controlling your PC that you don't 100% own.
I used to be Windows player but switch to Linux with my own decision when MS decided to do some real BS with Windows 11 so it's been awhile. I been Battlefield fan since Battlefield 4 so yea I been REALLY looking forward to it with excitement, now that EA and DICE decides to slap us in the face including some Linux OG players with betrayal I had hope that maybe someway we could convince them to support Linux as well but who am I kidding it's EA and I decided to just give up and move on ditching Battlefield series for good.

For all the Linux guys out there I understand the hoping, coping, grieving, upset and even frustration. The best thing to do is to let go and move on and do not feel defeated or sad it's just a game. Start looking at the bright side we all don't have to install all the bull crap kernel level, going through security boot, BIOS, having EA sticking their hand in your Machine for them to control and looking in, having the chance to get BRICKED ect.

BF6 is lower grade garbage anyway with all the small maps, no weapon locked class, false banning ect. So don't feel bad plus with ARC RAIDERS going on (very fun)

Linux will always be awesome with current growth so be happy with that! I know for sure non of us would ever go back to WINDOWS because how much we love freedom and get to own your Machine 100%. As a matter a fact we all have windows on our walls of the house anyway! I always open my windows for some fresh air during summer.

THERE ARE OTHER AWESOME GAMES OUT THERE! so don't let this EA and DICE ruin your gaming life of experiences with their ignorant childish decisions.
Few very cool games coming out this month and this year! let us all move on together and explore!

Debian and Arch based distribs usually work fine with secure boot.
That doesn't mean BF6 will work since the anti-cheat might make Windows-specific kernel checks.

Yea the point of this is there are so many Linuxs players who are BF fans feeling sad and full of hope and we need to not waste time with something that will not change feeling defeated and do healthier option that is to move on. It's not like BF6 is going to be the best in the world or anything.
As a Linux user... yeah it sucks. But as you said. There are plenty of good games which are playable on Linux.

Even if I were Windows user.... Kernel level anti-cheats is a big no. I dont trust Microsoft let alone 3rd party SW in my Kernel.

Also what will happen with exploits after BF6 support is stopped? I really doubt that their kernel anticheats is exploit proof.

Agreed. It's not exploit or not even cheating proof, very possibly BF6 might end up being short just like the last two, almost all modern games in AAA category these days are disappointing and corrupted business practices that ends up short lived. In BF6 case there is possibility of bricking and setting up your PCs security with EAs access in your machine and for all that for one game is actually not worth IF you love and care about your Machine.
Not on Linux, tho on a cloud computer (Secure boot and stuff aint possible here either), so i kinda feel you. But as you said, its alright. If €A does not want my money? Pfft, there a many Indie-game-devs that deserve the money more anyway :P

Very true, Indie games are more built loved and quality than AAA games most of the time. And it works really well with Steam Deck!
There are many great fps games that is available for Linux
I completely agree with you. And even if I were to dual-boot Windows for BF6, I still wouldn't support EA's approach. Portraying Linux as an insecure operating system with potential exploits is a ridiculous joke.

"EA uses Javelin Anticheat to ensure all our titles provide players with a fair gaming experience." "Javelin was built from the ground up by a team of experienced engineers and analysts to analyze cheating issues for every game under the EA umbrella and develop unique features to address those issues."

I don't know how it's fair to simply exclude 2.6% of all Steam users. One could feel discriminated against in the broadest sense for not wanting to follow a software giant's path of total foreign control with Windows 11. And EA is dictating or forcing this path with the claim of "fairness"? Questionable.

Yes, Javelin is unique. So unique that I'd happily do without.

And I wish many more gamers would switch to Linux so that the market would eventually force manufacturers to support Linux as well. But unfortunately, it all depends on the people who find Linux "too complicated." And even though they might be able to switch, they stay where they are out of convenience. On Windows 11, an OS that can't make you more transparent (apart from ChromeOS, perhaps).

I switched a long time ago and haven't regretted it. Even if I have to do without one or two games, most run without issues. And if EA doesn't want my money, then they don't want it.

LINUX for great experience!!!!
they are in no way obligated to cater to linux
Having support for proton is probably a joke to their Anti cheat.

Gaming on Linux is a small, tiny fraction.

I would love to game on a native Linux Battlefield game.
But nobody is releasing native Linux games anytime soon.

Well yea that's the point
I get being upset definitely valid, but a slap in the face? Linux isn't a supported OS for this game. The 'takes' these days are so incredibly entitled. You do you but that isn't gonna magically bring BF6 to Linux.
Windows is the worst gaming OS out there. Give us a good SteamOS with proton for desktop already!
Absolutely,

Linux is the future of gaming.
