How to Rotate Furniture

I've been messing around with rotation and found a way to rotate furniture.

1. Put down any block that can be rotated freely.
   
2. Have the furniture selected on your hotbar.
   
3. Rotate the block to the desired orientation and keep the rotation locked.
   Note: If you rotate the block before selecting the furniture on your hotbar, the rotation gets unlocked. To fix this quickly, simply point to the rotated block and press and release 'R'.
   
4. Put down the furniture.

It works with some furniture, but not all. Here's a list of furniture/lighting that can be rotated this way.

Torches can be used as thrusters/blow torches; beacons can be used as lasers, lighthouse beacons, or even just to mark out your territory; wood chairs and tables can be knocked over in a tavern brawl. There's all sorts of fun things you can do with rotated furniture!

Random fun fact: torches still generate heat in the +Y (upward) direction even when their flames are pointing elsewhere.

They behave like free rotation, but revert back to right-side up after rotation is released. Rotating vines and fallen leaves changes the pattern.

I have noticed that too, but haven´t tried out all the stuff like you. Thanks for the List! Great Work.
Tip: I allways use an wooden Stool or Slab (you can rotate it freely) to mark the Rotation because it is easily visible how the rotation will be locked.

So who is gonna build an upside down House with me now? I will Join any Server and help if you want ;)

That's a good tip about using the stool/slab to see the orientation.
