Why won't my crops grow?
Hello,

I'm trying to grow wheat in a cold taiga / tundra biome.

I've put a layer of water under a layer of dirt, tiled the dirt and sowed some seeds.

The 5x5 area is surronded by torches, maintaining the temperature over the plot between 76 and 53 degrees Farhenheit (depending on where you stand).

I chose a spot where there is no natural light, but from what I understand, crops can grow underground, so this shoudn't be the problem...

I've waited and waited, but nothing is growing.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks.

Probably too cold as chunk computation, which is most likely done on the biome / altitude and not really on nearby heat sources.

Aim at the crops and see if they read "fallow" - if they do, they won't grow.

Players use to make farms in cold biomes by digging a little and going down till the biome reads "Fossil" (the temp also rises and you'll not need any torches there).

That worked great. Thanks.
