Heating in winter biome
How to warm up my house in the winter biome? I've already tried double layer of the hardened lava but it doesn't transfer heat through floor blocks. Also I want a second floor. Any good ways to warm it up other than placing fire pits everywhere?

do a slab floor with torches under it,, but for the 2nd floor idk, maybe do a false celling with the same technic

Rotate the firepits upside down match the flooring to it with other blocks .If you use a rotated chimney the smoke will come out the bottom so that is better with a ground floor. The stone firepit looks good as a walk paver step thru snow. The rotated chimney blends well with the gingerbread wall or red yellow or blue Morroccan Tile

You might take note of how far you have to go down before you stop freezing. On the open frozen ocean for instance if you remove the ice and place your floor directly in the first block of water you are good.

I have made many builds in cold areas but have never really been concerned about freezing. Not in the build long enough for concern. There are many warming aids available too.

I usually make the healing beacon as soon as I can. Just throw it down when you get too cold, hurt, corruption poisoning. Nice Swiss knife.

The idea with torches under slabs sounds good. Thanks, will try it out. As for a second floor it seems I have to decorate fire pits.

upd. Nothing really works in my taiga house. A torch under the slab block gives heat only if the slab block rotated to lower position. In this case I can't place furniture on it correctly. Looks like only fire pits/torches design solutions may help in my case.
