Scanning for Steam games updates - can not find in library
I have wanted to pick up this game as my partner has been playing it but I'm stuck in an error loop. When selecting the game from the store I'm told it is already in my library. The only option in the store is to "Play" the game. The problem is I haven't even downloaded it yet.

Upon selecting "Play" steam sort of locks up and a message appears "Scanning for Steam games updates..." with the cancel button greyed out. Attempting to click anywhere else on Steam makes a chiming error noise. After about 30 seconds the message disappears but no progress has been made towards installing Creativerse.

Upon going to my Library "Creativerse" is not an option, not even on my not installed files. Normally I'd go to my Library to download the game by right clicking on it, but since there's nothing to right click on I can't actaully select to download it.

I'd love to play this game but it seems the free to play model does not seem to mesh well with Steam libraries and downloading the game client for players.

Are you playing on the same computer your partner has it installed on? Sometimes it tries to stream a game when my kid plays a game. If not try to link your accounts and stream the game from his computer then delete local content and try to install again.

I don't think it's the free to play that is bugging it out as I have tons of free to play games that are fine.

Completely separate computers. Certainly they're running on the same network but different accounts, different computers.

This is an issue with Steam. My best guess would be to reinstall Steam. If you Google this issue there have been problems like this for years. Sometimes it takes elaborate tweaks to fix and sometimes just letting it do whatever it needs to do for a bit will fix it.

Good luck

This problem still persists. I know it can come up for other games, but this particular game has that since it's gone F2P, so there has to be a problem with this game on Steam, my guess would be that it's connected to that switch. Nothing you find online works for me, not trying to install it over the browser, nor trying to install it over Steam itself nor reinstalling Steam does anything and neither does trying to install it through SteamDB. Back when I last had this problem, installing it from the store through the browser worked, but that doesn't even work anymore.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that removing the game's license from my Steam-Account and retrying the mentioned methods did not work either.

Have you checked the folder for Steam under your c:\program files\ to see if you have a half-installed version of it there? That might not show up on your game-list in Steam but might still prevent you from installing it again.

No, I don't have a half-installed version there, got a new HDD and freshly installed Windows since I last had Creativerse installed(before uninstalling it). Also, wouldn't be where you say it is and my SteamLibrary now is on a different HDD then it was before(uninstalled every game on the old one beforehand, properly).

Can you see Creativerse listed in your library? If so try right clicking and selecting delete local content. Then try reinstalling the game.

If it is not there but Steam will not let you download because it thinks it is installed then go to where your Steam files are located and delete the file in the SteamApps folder by the name of appmanifest_280790.acf

No, it is not in my library, as I already said. And that file doesn't exist in SteamLibrary\steamapps either, if you meant there. :/
