More info about chunks and their boundaries:

I used to make large spawners in the past with glass slabs' ceilings way up at the top of the sky, it's quite a chore but quite rewarding for the see-through result:

Some spawners can indeed be mixed in the same chunk (say, Dried Leafis, Trogs and DustEvils can all spawn in the same chunk) but lava and corruption are definitely not compatible - namely, enough lava-related blocks wil disable all corrupted spawns.
Yeah on the Lava Platform aren't any spawns at all -_-
And the Stalactite layer doesn't even have a roof.
@entuland
Thanks for your Spawner guide :)
Is it necessary to seperate those chunks?
I've come to the conclusion that it might be easier to craft 955 excavators to hollow out a whole claim (Calculation done with 64x64x16 blocks and 5 layers) and just add some floors at the right hight. Multispawner made that way could be a cool thing.
The advantage of doing large spawners over the ocean as I show in the guide is that you get less "noise" from nearby chunks spawning other mobs - it's definitely faster to fill a blueprint with burst fill than digging large areas.
One claim may not even be enough depending on what you want to achieve, some of those spawners are 3x3 claims.
Some spawners can be mixed up as mentioned above but the vertical is kinda "dangerous" if you want to blueprint the spawner and repro it somewhere else, that's why I made my all-mobs-spawner with 15 free blocks between the floors to ensure they fall into different chunks on the vertical:

But still i wonder why there's no spawning at all on the lava platform.
It's got a roof, no artificial lights, floating over the ocean, 16 blocks high walls, 64x64 only lava and Igneous Rock and so on. is there a possibility to check in which vertical chunk i am? Guess by calculating using the xyz position?

You _are_ getting spawns, only that you're getting them on the roof - as mentioned earlier, I can't tell why it's spawning only on the roof, you may be hitting a bug if the lower floor is too close to the water though.
Make sure there are at least two or three free spaces between the water surface and the floor and replace the ceiling with crafted blocks, that should force the spawns inside the closed room.
In order to troubleshoot that specific installation better I'd need to see it first hand.
