Can't interact at all with programmable villagers

hi and thanks for taking your time to read this:

so i'm trying for the first time the villagers, my own world (pro player btw if that makes any difference) playing solo. i found one of the villagers wandering on the taiga and recruited it completing the quest, it gave me it's Archetype, i also found the treasure hunter's Archetype and ofc unlocked them both.

now the problem is when i try to interact with them. pressing F close to them does nothing nor does the secondary button, with or without the wiring tool equiped (even tho with the wiring tool it shows me wiring connections (why? haven't seen anything on the wiki).

i've noticed that when i'm next to a pet it says on green "Access: Joachim" (me) but when i'm next to the villager it says "Access: Builders" my world options are default except for double treasure chests and regrowth but they shouldn't affect the permisions, i've tried to close and launch the game again and also leaving the world and joining it back and there's no way i can access them.

any help please?

You were close enough - aim at the pad at the feet of the NPC and hit N just like you would do with an Arc Sign, it should show you the interface to change the archetype, add messages and so forth.

The access difference is just matter of defaults - the pets default to "me" whereas all other machines default to "builder" - you should be able to change that just like you would with any chest.

OMG it was the N key. my bad... since it said "press F to interact" i thought i had to use the F key... omg thank you and sorry.

No problem at all! The F interaction is definitely there - it only applies to after you have set the NPC up though :)
