Permissions - How to set them?

Okay, so I did some searching in the discussions, and couldnt find any reference as to how to actually set someones level of permission in your world. I know the levels and such but not how to do it. I tried every combination of /permissions i could come up with to no avail. Anyone know how this is done?

example (if I remember correctally) to set admin permissions (they must be active in the world)

/promote <permission level>

/promote admin
after entering the above command it should bring up a list of people to set that level of permission to, a individual can only set permissions of a person as high as they currently (except owner, there can be only one)
a person cannot kick/ban/unban etc.. a person of their level or higher...ie I could if I was a admin not kick/ban/unban/mute etc... another admin

depending on the level some users may not even have access to these commands.

Pretty sure it's /promote not /permission
For example: "/promote admin" or "/promote mod" brings up a list in game, and you just click the player name (must be online at the time)

Ahh that makes a lot of sense! I had seen someone give an example of it on a youtube video, but couldnt remember which one it was and where it was in the video (most of them are quite long lol). So next time I just do "/promote visitor" to bring up the list of players currently online, then choose one of them to set at that level. Makes sense now!

Resurrecting an old thread here, but if I own a claim and /promote someone to builder, can I later /demote them from my claim back to visitor? Or is this one way, and if I grant them permission, all I can really do is unclaim my land, leave everything behind and move on?

Dreambliss, the permissions are fluid. You can switch between them as often as you want.

In the future, try not to necro an old thread and post a new comment instead.

You can /promote visitor to return anyone to visitor status. However, you cannot change the permissions of someone with the same level as yourself.

You can also use the Player Menu from in world by hitting ESC and clicking on the Players button.
