how to get tar?

i got it to flow, but i cant turn it into tar, its neigther liquie--diamond or coal 0.o

it's org state IS "Tar" or "Oil" as many players call it.

Freeze bombs turn it to coal nodes

Fire bombs on the coal turn it to diamonds

and just tossing fire bombs at the tar turns it to lava

There is currently no way to pick it up and take with you in it's normal state

It's a glitch that people have been able to harvest the tar blocks. It happens occasionally, but is incredibly rare. Hopefully they will add some liquid collection method so we can harvest and move the tar.

Sorry, I should have answered before.
As of V2, you can find an oil/tar source "black water" in a natural made cave system that leads to the stalactite level without digging what so ever. It should be easy to find even though you may enounter a cave that has does not have a premade digged cave into the stalactite level.

In V1, oil/tar was difficult to find which in that case, you would have to dig for the stalactite layer.

To help you out a bit, the water is usually flowing out from the ceiling or you may find it as a normal lake like the healing water.

As Remy stated, you wont be able to collect the water since for myself. I have not figure out how just yet. If you want, you may craft frozen bombs and throw it into the water turning it into coal, once you turned it into coal, you may throw a fire bomb at the coal to get diamonds.

Beware: If you throw firebomb's first, you will make lava.

When I found tar I acidently placed a torch in it..... it turned into fire

tar is liquid, so if you remove some blocks under it, it starts flowing down. then u can harvest it from bottom to top (will refill itself

i only begun playing this game something like a week ago, and it is a liquid xD i found it the second day of gaming (only one space) and it started flowing down after i removed some blocks. + its a liquid for cooking, so i dont think its a mistake

Wow this post is old... It also has out of date information from when we were not able to collect liquids. Because of that I am going to lock this thread down. If you want to discuss Tar and its many great uses then feel free to create a new thread.

But just know that it is very flammable
