Any new way to "farm" beeswax?

I used to place Queen Bees on the middle of a 3x3 leaf platforms, that worked well with me, farmed 500 beeswaxes in like 3 days.

However this way doesn't seem to work now (after R13). I built a small beeswax farm in my friend's world, and I used exactly the same way to "plant" queen bees and "grow" beeswax. However, 2 days have passed in real world, those queen bees produce no beeswax at all.

I am so upset...do I have to go back on tree top like a monkey again?

And BTW, how long does a tree sapling need to grow up?

Some folks have found that the density of beeswax/queens in the area has an effect -- try monkeying up to some of the surrounding trees and clearing the wax that's already there. Also, make sure you're nearby to your queens at the beginning of tha game day. If you've traveled too far, the game might not be thinking about your farm when it comes time to grow the wax.

Saplings don't have a set time -- sometimes they'll grow after one night, sometimes it takes many in-game day-night cycles. If you have more tha one sapling planted, then when one finally grows, usually they all will grow at the same time. Like the wax, your best chance to see a sapling grow is to be hanging nearby to your saplings at the break of day.

There is another way to farm beeswax similar to your way. Two blocks of wood or leaves and the queen bee block on top will cause them to spawn beeswax. It will kinda look like a tree. Duration of the that is about one or two ingame days.

Another thing is that Bransloth is right with his idea that hanging around helps, the growth cycle depends on your presence in the area. When you plant trees and leave for a long time they might not grow but if you are there for a few ingame days and they will grow just fine.

...recently...i saw someone in game...put 1 queen bee on 2 blocks of cragwood with 2 other cragwood double blocks stacked nearby....and to our shock....beeswax grew on all 3 trees.

I put two cragwood blocks in the earth and a queen be on top...after the harvest I didn´t put a new queen bee back on top...guess what: after a while, new honey...already happened a few times at that location ;-)

I built a honey farm (1 cragwood, 1 cragwood leaves, 1 queenbee). Worked well close to some real trees with flowers. Then I moved it away (to my new built farm house) and it stopped working. Maybe flowers also help the process.
BTW, my tree saplings refused to grow so I decided to collect them and replant them somewhere else. One day after I had recollected them, grown trees suddenly had appeared.....
