How to unlock chest recipe?

So my kids and I are playing on our server. I have the recipes for the chests unlocked. My kids however, have tons of recipes unlocked, but not chests.

What was it that unlocked the wooden chest recipe to begin with?

Yes, both have picked up bees wax and made a lot of basic furniture.

maybe just have them pick up a wooden chest that you have placed down. there was a bug a few updates ago that caused players to not have some of the basic crafting recipes in their crafting tables. the fix we came up with is one player crafts the item/block and then the player missing the recipe picks up the item/block and then the recipe would be unlocked.

you shouldn't have to unlock the wooden chest recipe, it should be in the recipe list when you first use a crafting table.

I think it probably unlocks with the wood power cell. Maybe with the processor.

However, both kids have unlocked and created the wood power cell.

I'm not sure about the processor however. I may have created both.

I'll the following:

1) have them craft the processor
2) I will craft the wood chest and have them pick it up

I'll respond with an update.

They should perhaps try crafting the processor and the forge as well if possible then maybe it unlocks...since processors and forages are important in the game.

I just did it yesterday, but wasn't paying that close attention.

It unlocks early. I was going to suggest wood slabs also, but I assumed that you would've already tried all the ingredients for making a wood chest.

Could also try a basic extractor. I haven't even started building yet, so it wouldn't be any of the walls, floors or other furniture. But anything that they still have a star on in the top section is worth a try.

Found out it was the Processor that unlocks Wood Chest.
