Cant play with friends unless its rented server?
Is this a joke or fr? I came back to this game and brought a friend to chill and have fun with, only to realise that I can't play on my own world with friend like It used to be the case. Needless to say, friend refunded and I uninstalled.

You can host your own server locally and have them play on it with you as well. A lot of players do from what I have heard. However it is more complicated than it used to be. Sorry though, I don't know the process, just that a lot of players do so.

@entuland could help you more than I can.

As cadh20000 mentioned, you do not necessarily need to rent a server in order to play multiplayer - that's an option, sure, but not a necessity.

The other approaches are without any special setup via LAN if all players are on the same connection and adding port forwarding to the router if the players are on different connections (and if port forwarding isn't possible, you could consider using a VPN such as Hamachi).

The details about how the multiplayer system works can be found in the guide, also linked by the game: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1rAeuk7qFinUyPRJGk4x6Dim3rmQN2zoLaR3PNR0roU4

We are available to provide live support on Discord with voice chat and screen sharing to go through all the checks if needed.

As for the reasons why we had to do so, it's been explained in the news starting from October 2022, when we first announced The Definitive Edition - long story short, it was either this system with player hosted worlds or no Creativerse for anyone at all, as we were about to shut the entire game down.

Well, in that case, I will keep it uninstalled. Shame, used to be one of my favorite games, when things were more simple.

Developers have given up on this game.

If Playful Corp had trully given up upon CreatiVerse (CV) you simply wouldn't be able to play it, period. And now that those shannannigans were once again easily debunked, I can go away with regular business. :steamfacepalm:

I do realise that playing with others now it's far more complicated to pull off than it used to, although it's not impossible.
What happened back then was that servers' maintenance costs had simply became unbearable for them sustain any longer as the CV news warned us all in advnce a few years back. And if you haven't been keeping in touch with CV regularly to have blatantly missed it back then there it is linked above once again. :baa:

any game that requires ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ port forwarding gets a negative review and an uninstall, what a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ archaic way to play with your friends.
