Unfortunately i do not know how to rotate the blocks in-game, and i find that totally embarrasing. Could someone please enlighten me?

Place a block that you want to rotate. Aim at that block and hold down the "R" key. Now click and drag your mouse to orient the block in the desired direction. Note that since your mouse only operates in 2 dimensions, the axes you can rotate on depend on which side of the block you are aiming at. Keeping this in mind, and with practice, this can save a bit of frustration with rotation.

Thank you kindly! I really appreciate it.

also if you have a block placed with the orientation you desire aim at it press r once and so long as you dont change your item selected in the hot bar that rotation will be applied to any more blocks you place. If you use this feature you will retain the cursor with the arc arrow around it. When you have a lot of blocks to do it can save a ton of time over individually rotating each block.

... we should really be allowed to put proper engines, pointing in all directions, on the ship. Would make breaking much, much easier. It's what I do in Space Engineers.
