The underground chests spawn the same as before, but surface chests have changed and only appear during the night.
Underground chests can spawn any time I think but they are less common.
New to the game. Changed from what? I'd still like the OP answered, please.
When do they spawn?
Where do they spawn?
How do they spawn? Additionally, what can you do to increase their chances of spawning?
(I've seen one, once)
Thanks.
The change I'm referring to is that, prior to R23, wood treasure chests that appear randomly on the surface used to spawn around the clock -- they now only show up after the sun goes down.
Beneath the ground, you'll find other variations of chests (with varying quality of loot) in the different cave layers. You might run into an obsidian treasure chest with decent loot in the bedrock/limestone layer, or an iron chest with pretty nice loot in the stalactite layer, and so on.
So, to answer you very directly:
- Surface chests spawn at night. Underground chests can spawn any time.
- Chests spawn anywhere, but the quality of loot varies by depth.
- Chests spawn randomly, independant of what you do. Exploration is probably the best way to run into more chests.
Hope that helps!I have a million more, but am trying to search them all out first.
Hope your week-free is netting some new $. It got mine (but, I have been following for quite a while).
