Mob spawner
So I see a lot of discussion on mob spawners but none of them with anything conclusive. So is it possible to build a multilevel mob spawner. And how big does it have to be. Can I have floors to the building that spawns different things? like corruption, lava, peak, savannah all in the same building different floors?

sure why not XD

you can make a mob spawner tower building as so far "height" not affecting the spawn rate of mobs

if me i would make at least 20x20x5 room for each floor

for example,
first floor would be all coal blocks super fast spawn rate for miru

2nd floor diamond blocks for hotfoot and warmworm and even without light it still bright but the mobs will still spawn

for 3rd floor just alternate the rocks u found in canyon and it would still spawn trogs and dustdevil

4th floor alternate those peakstone and stone and ice for rambeau farm and if u put more ice it would be spawn more towards blizzard chizzard instead of rambeau but still both would spawn

u doesnt hv to made a canyon hill or anything just flatground can still spawn the mobs for 3rd n 4th floor as we need to make sure all blocks tht usually found in tht biome is present there

5th floor corrupted block and so on

btw using those coal and diamond blocks turns out for me spawn more chest XD

wish u all the best! :steamhappy:

in short yes it is possible each floor of mine is 15 by 15 but you may be able to get away with as small as a 10 by 10

Multi-level spawners work fine.
It's best to make it big enough that it fills a complete 'chunk'. Chunks are apparently 16x16, but unless you know where the chunk borders are it's best to make it bigger than that.
That being said, it is possible to get creatures to spawn on a single block.
Yes, separate floors made of different blocks work fine.
For night-time and underground mobs you will generally need to make sure it is quite dark. I haven't tried it myself, but I expect that using glowing mushrooms for light would still let things spawn. I know that using lava falls for light still let things spawn.

WTF .... did you just say coal blocks ... do you mean asphalt or do you mean a certain bomb and "dirty water"

i did say tht coal ore nodes blocks as u can froze the tar using ice bomb into coal nodes and another fire bomb to turn it into diamond ore nodes

so basically
tar + ice bomb = coal ore nodes
coal ore nodes + fire bomb = diamond ore nodes :steamhappy:

I've actually tried to make a corruption mob spawner but it doesn't seem to be working. I used /sim to find the chunk boundaries. I counted blocks until I saw a number change. The area is 16x6x16 underground. Perhaps it only works if it's above ground...

Mine is underground, just below the surface and works great. My 16x16's were working ok, but when I went a little larger, they seemed to work better. I found best result with all corrupted stone floor and corrupted dirt wall.

I have a corruption biome of 17 x17 x 5. The only trouble I've had with spawns is when other spawns on nearby areas of the map fill the area's quota. As long as the surrounding area is clear of mobs, my farm works well.

I have 3 Spwanrooms above ground in a tower (32x32).
One with hardened lava, one with bad rock, one with gras and stone.
The first two work fine, but the one with gras and stone ist empty all the time.
Can someone maybe explain how to make a working wood chest spwanerroom, thx.:fhappy:

Wood chests only spawn at night time as you explore the world (ie load chunks) so making a spawner for them might be a little more difficult. However if you are absolutely set on it then it is possible. You would just need a specialized setup that would rollercoaster you out of the area and then bring you back...

That might be it then. My spawner was at the Fossil layer. If your spawner was just below the surface, but above Fossil, then my new 21x6x21 spawner might work. I'm building it into a big hill in the Forest using 9 Excavators. It's also possible I'm reading the /sim output wrong.

Also, side question: How big are the chunks? Are they like Minecraft with 16x256x16 chunks? or are the chunks smaller in height and stack on top of each other?

Update: Ok, I finished laying down the corrupted stone floor, and is doesn't seem to be working. I'm out of ideas now...
