So, now you'll have stored worlds upon your own PC or server host of your choosing coupled with few other extra options that are coming our way. But it's also rather callous to think that the dev's would still prefer to maintain the free players in such model because if they haven't been enticed until now to acquire something extra (from the in-game's Store) to keep supporting a game that they liked then most likely they wouldn't do so if the game model remained the same.
Ergo, that's why Playful Corp needed to make this change in order to maintain the game's finantial model in a sustainable manner and if you still can't grasp that concept by now, well...
I know I was ranting, I did say this confusion, over the BIG CHANGE, was melting my brain some.
I paid for pro, paid for this game, because of the way we could easily make worlds and play them. That was taken away from free players and only Pro could control a new created world. But you're telling me now I can't even do that soon and I have to pay for a server to have a world on (or use my pc, yeah, I heard ya say that)? ...So, like Minecraft? I bought the game for that very reason of being able to make worlds and not have to search online for some server, like with Minecraft, or pay for my own server to now play this game. I think I already said this, but if you couldn't get ppl interested in playing this game when it was free, how is making them pay for the game and for a server going to suddenly make ppl interested? I also said that this BIG CHANGE had better be better than a miracle to attract players that it was never attracting before the BIG CHANGE.
I like Minecraft but I can't find a decent server to play on any more so I can imagine how finding a Creativerse server would be possible. As it is now, while it's still free, I'm finding no worlds some days, often just 3 - 5 worlds. I understand they can't continue to let this game be played for free. It's bleeding to death and it's costing a lot to keep it alive. It's been that way for years and I've felt it's pain cos I've had a close fondness for it. I see the Devs have 2 choices, either put it down and kill it off or let it go to die elsewhere online in some darkened corner of the internet. BIG CHANGE!
the hosting system has failed. they cant afford to run it anymore. the servers are going down whether they make the new version or not. what theyre doing is salvaging this so players can at least have it like mine craft instead of just closing it down.
so yes the free toy theyve provided for years at a loss instead of a profit is going away. and being replaced with a toy that costs money
There is not reason why this game shouldn't work, especially when it never cost ya anything.
they did the same thing my time in portia did with trying to add multiplayer where they programmed themselves into a corner. they would have to make en entirely different game to make it freestanding. and theyre not going to make an entire game for free >.>
Currently one set of servers are already down and people are asking their worlds to be moved to another server, So when we can host our own worlds, it will be up to us to maintain them.
I used to love playing minecraft when it was free in several variants - now every new update is so expensive, and the blockyness of it bugs me when I know better graphics are possible.
I used to play sims on disks on my laptop, but the free version on steam really sucks, and all the extras to make it better are way too expensive. (the newer laptops dont take disks).
Yes I played this game for free for about 2 years, then bought it to get pro and have a new world and be able to fly. Since then I have not had to spend anything to get all the great updates have came along.
Being able to migrate my worlds and have them on my own computer will give me more control, even if it reduces the amount of multiplayer availability, but will also completely prevent strangers from accessing my world without my permission.
All the new games out there, and yet I can't find any I like to relax and build that aren't really expensive or violent. In comparison to most, Creativerse is not that expensive, has tones of content, great graphics, and easy playing.
Nothing in Life is "Free"
The things that are supposedly "Free" somebody somewhere is paying for it in some way or another
What the game needs to gain more players is what the Dev's are currently doing / going to do, and that is spending the money on updates and improving the game instead of spending the amount of money they currently make in game on Servers / hosting for the game
IF they continued on the path of "free to play" where anyone can play the game for free then it would not be long before the game died totally because a majority of free to play players do not end up spending any money in game or buying Pro, they just continue playing for free (which would not be so bad IF the game was making a a lot of money / more money than what it costs to keep it running / hosted, but it is not)
You said it yourself " It's bleeding to death and it's costing a lot to keep it alive."
IF You was in the Dev's shoes then you would either do the exact same thing they are doing or you would pull the plug on the game entirely (the latter is something that you seem to want judging by your posts here)
I remember one of the first homes i ever built in Creativerse that had a BossHog that would constantly spawn inside my kitchen and most often, while in the crafting or cooking menu, I got attacked. Was, and still is a nuisance and it truend me away from playing in that home I built....Soooo...
As grand of an idea it is to have certain creatures spawn in certain biome, which sounds like a brilliant idea, it actually stops players from having the options to live anywhere they want due to the OP creatures spawning inside buildings in the OP creatures biomes. This lack of being able to live anywhere shuts down most of the map as being playable. Less playable amount of map, less enjoyment for the player, less players wanna play this game. I gave a couple of possible ideas up there to help with this idea but here's one more. Every biome has it's own specific plants for that biome (except ice lake/ocean so think up something for that biome like spiked ice blocks.) Make it that no creature will spawn within a specific distance, but small radius, from these plants/Spiked blocks, we could then use them to spawn creatures spawning in our homes. BUT, we also don't want to smoother our homes in these plants/spikes. So plants/spikes combined with a crafted item (totem) and/or tamed creatures will deter creatures from spawning.
Leaving the game to be played as it is IS NOT attracting new players. This is the problem and not that we need the game on our pc.
game is definitely buggy as hell. they intend to focus their efforts on dev once they no longer need to invest so much on the server side, i believe somone else explained that
creatures do not spawn in artificial light, nor on most player made blocks. the blocks that cause each creature to spawn are well known and documented. place torches, 'totem' achieved. there are potions for gravity and gliders and even a setting. i believe theres a food or potion for water breathing but i might be misremembering (edit: ocean potion found it), quick potions for speed. if we have plenty of potions readily available why do we need clunky custom equipment to swap out? i dont really get how thats an improvement over stackable buffs? as a side note i also miss the helmets and prefer the armor look to the new 'armor' appearance they showed in the preview stream
im actually excited for this change and already got a friend to sign up for when the new version goes live. cant wait to see what new changes await and how much control ill finally have over my own world
Snipped quote for Brevity
Hmm the game is not being hidden away, it is still being advertised on Steam (and will be when new version is bought out I assume) and it is being improved with the new version being bought out
In that home you mentioned did you use any natural blocks to create it ? as it is only when natural blocks are used I have ever had any mobs spawn inside my builds (some was intentional, spawners etc) in all the years I have played this game
I would check your build for any natural blocks and replace them if there is any, problem should be solved then
Have you missed the point of the recent posts and information about the new edition ? they (the dev's) are not leaving the game as it is currently, it is being improved upon
And I agree with You when you said "Leaving the game to be played as it is IS NOT attracting new players"
And that is one of the reasons why the game is being improved, to keep the player base it has already and to also attract new players to the game
I do not see why you keep mentioning about the game needing to be improved when it is in the process of being improved, and you are still not happy it is being improved ?
I suggest you re read all the information about the improvements being done to the game, before you continue posting, as you said yourself you are not understanding this BIG CHANGE, reading about the changes will help you understand it better, complaining about it wont
Read the information about the improvements in the new version
It has already been stated previously they are using the money to do development for the game instead of them having to spend it on servers / hosting for the game and not being able to host it and do development due to lack of cash
The new version there is more cash available to make the game better and get rid of the bugs because of no hosting costs for the dev's
Which one would you prefer to have ?
1) A game that is partly installed on your pc with bugs that has not been improved on in a long time which is being hosted by the devs and will eventually be killed off because of the costs to host it
OR
2) A game you have installed on your pc that you have the option to host however you want whenever you want IF you want, with less bugs and it being constantly updated / developed by the devs and improved and you get to play it for years to come
Option 2 is my choice, I would assume anyone who liked the game would also choose option 2
I don't agree that hosting on your pc would be better than on the free servers that this game provided, not everyone has that kind of pc. I paid for Pro cos I liked the idea of free servers which I, and any else, could join any time. Instead you think we'll wait till a friend is online and their pc is on before we can play Creativerse? That makes no sense ya know. Oh, and there's that little point that the servers I paid for by buying Pro are being taken from me. This is that extra control of my worlds that free players never had and Pro player paid for.
I also do not believe that the Devs will fix any bugs if they stop free servers. Having less responsibility by dumping the game on a player's pc will makes Devs care less and do less for this game. Besides the Devs have had yeeeears to fix bugs and refused to fix most up till now anyways so what makes you think we'll believe that's change. As it has always been, Instead of fixing bugs in the past, the Dev's took away the helmet and added weird ugly shoulder things, they added those odd new flowers that do not graphically look the same as the rest of this game and are used in crafting liek everything else, they added fireworks that do nothing for the game or gameplay, and they added villagers (which was great to see that someone on this game was actually thinking of trying to improve this game, altho the villagers were a flop and the info about them is often wrong AND DEVS WON'T FIX THAT TOO). These are just a few things I have mentioned, too be sure there's more. Ya see, there is no reason for anyone to believe bugs will be fixed if Devs have refused to fix the bugs over the maaaany years past.
