Perhaps what they have released didn't meet your expectations but that's fine, it's impossible to make everybody happy with the new releases cause everyone has their own view on what this game should become, and there is just so much time in a day to implement stuff and fix bugs, prioritization will always leave something out, for good or bad.
You can have a look at this reply for the latest message from the devs: https://steamcommunity.com/app/280790/discussions/0/1642041106355082436/?ctp=3#c3428846977652591156
The blueprint revolution was pretty important too. That was free. But yes, they shrunk the team down to almost nobody, they are working twice as hard but only can get some much done being a small team.
Even knowing what is on the horizon, isn't enough. It isn't
I haven't seen a new map since the day I got here. The only "new" creatures I've seen are Holiday/event creatures and a re-skinned rambeau.
It all makes me very sad. I feel like it might as well have been abandoned. Even if they are working on it, if the lack of movement gets people to wonder, and then you see that no longer are there at least 1000 people playing, now we only have about 300 if that.
And nothing I say seems to draw any more than vague platittudes and once a year upgrades.
I'm very frustrated.
@Ebonyize ... @a spicy meatball... I hear you. We hear you. I’m personally sorry you are frustrated and that’s not intentional.
As you all probably know we are a small studio. With the honor of New Super Luckys Tale launching on Switch, that is taking studio resources to help finish the title and get it to Nintendo. We are small and a family and we are all pitching in.
That being said the development on CV has not stopped at all. We made the decision a little bit ago to go after some laaarge things that you reference not seeing. Well... large things in our game have a lot of follow on implications. A loooot of testing and it just takes a lot of time to get it right.
On thing I said when I came over to the team was we won’t release things that are not ready and won’t just put things in just to do it. That involves iteration. We go a direction we get it in, we play it, we don’t like it , we change it. We actually do this out of love for our users otherwise we could just throw the buggy kitchen sink in.
I also understand and relate to “just put it in and let the world test” but that would be catastrophic. The reason for testing is not just bugs, but to see how over time things impact other areas etc. performance implications etc...
We spent the last few months on just performance and bug fixes. I know that’s not flashy, but the game plays smoother and better than it ever did. I’m hoping we have been very transparent on that over the few months.
Going forward, we are trying to take on very big ticket items that expand this more than it has since the launch pretty much. These are not simple and take time unfortunately. We will make announcements when we are locked in. But for now we are still iterating and polishing some areas. I didn’t want to keep posting saying.. hi... we are still developing... see you later... :).
Regardless, the above is just context (not excuses). I’ll try and post more when I have items to post. I do really appreciate the passion and feedback and I promise we are doing the best we can at the moment :)
I know that the team is small and they work hard on it and on other games as well.
And I still love the fact that the developer talks to the community in a normal way and really puts a lot of effort into it.
But since the big update with the new biomes there hasn't really been anything more exciting for me, which I really use and improved my game feeling.
The blueprint, also that you can rotate almost all blocks, was in the meantime still something great and the performance improvements, but they were necessary.
Personally, it seems to me that most updates simply brought new blocks, design changes and decoration into the game.
And that's unfortunately the only real long-term motivation in this game, building.
Exploring the world is only exciting until you've seen all the biomes, then everything just repeats itself over and over again and there's nothing surprising.
Adventure is also over as soon as you have the Lumite armor, which can be achieved after a few hours and the few quest are also quickly and easily completed.
The festival events are a short change every now and then, but degenerate too easily to only a grind festival.
And even if building alone is supposed to be the focus, there are just things missing that make it easier to find people to play with and to exchange ideas.
And I mean that in the game, via other platforms, e.g. the Steam Forum or Discord is not useful or practical for the masses.
Say functions that have been requested for years:
>A better worlds search function, because what helps the big plus point with all >worlds online, if you hardly find any that you like or where you want to build.
>More functions for Amins as well as the possibility e.g. to change the owner, if this stops to play the game.
>New maps, with more different structures or even ruins to explore.
World bosses.
>New creatures, e.g. in the sea to make this at least interesting.
>In the chat several tabs to easily talk to different people/groups without losing the overview (with commands not really practical or understandable for everyone) or even the possibility to send messages e.g. to people who are not online at the same time.
>More reasons to catch animals, e.g. animal breeding, riding, help in fighting or collecting raw materials.
>A very difficult point, of course: Npc´s
>What actually happened to the localization announced years ago?
>and so much more damn good ideas from the community.
I still believe in the developers and I have little until nothing negative to say about them, mostly positive.
But when someone asks me if I can recommend this game at the moment, I'm missing more and more arguments for it.
Rome wasn't built in a day.
My favorite: It's so hard babysitting these guys.
Every time something is added, it becomes harder to add another thing. One comma in the wrong place can cost hundreds of hours to troubleshoot.
I understand why it takes so long, but if you really love this game it does seem like we are standing still.
All we can do is to continue to cheer them on
or their favorite: bug them until they get sick of hearing about it.
Additionally, we are looking and working on different titles in the studio. So stay tuned.
My biggest frustration is the dwindling numbers.
If you look at trends, updates drive playtime for this game. Right now we are having 300 people at any given moment, whereas it used to be 4000, then 2000, then 1400, 1000, and then drastically 300.
Since you made this game free to play and since i cant run or buy a server, I am left wondering how much longer a game has, when only 300 people on average play it, and its parent genre game still has tens of MILLIONS who play it every day.
I still play spore. Because I can. 12 years later.
Will I be able to play AWB server based Creativerse in 12 years? How about 2?
I've got almost 5k hours with my pro account and over 3k hours with my free accounts. I've spent around $2800 on coins, coins bundles, blueprint bundles, and pro for 61 people.
Again my biggest frustration is that not enough is being done to entice people to stay, or return, or even come for the first time.
Take for example Pro; no real upgrades since its launch, even though a selling point was "periodic updates/expansions" to pro. You can't entice people to come back if you don't offer something new.
I love you guys. I've hitched my horse to your wagon. I'm frustrated at not knowing how much longer I can enjoy this game before it closes down its servers. I'm frustrated because there hasn't been a push to grab up new players, no massive upgrades to draw attention, nothing **outwardly** appears as though Playful cares about keeping this title active.
I'm not saying that is the case. That doesn't mean people don't see it that way.
I hope you can see where I am coming from.
You, obviously, don't see where I am coming from.
The Blue Print Revolution was a success. Maybe this is an avenue that we ought to explore.
New blocks are great to have but locking so many behind a pay wall ruins this game for a lot. I personally bought basically all of them because I loved the game (very quickly sunk over 300 hours before I burned out" my friends loved it and we would spend all nighters on the game. Then we left because we saw everything there was see.
Machines were such a good gateway to something great. Then it stopped. Think like MC how they have the Nether portal. We need something like that. I really like the style of this game more than MC but its lacking so much to keep into it
