How to melt snow? .... but, there is something more to this question
Anyone know a way to melt snow >>> very high in the mountains .... lets just say: snowlevel

i believe that due to the height level th esnow wont melt just like how on the lower levels if its surrounded by enough water ice and snow wont melt i dont understand the dynamics behind it yet but this is what ive discovered

It is biome related. Snow won't melt in places where you can see snow on the ground not melting.

But, if you build a path from the mountain to a place where you are over top of a plain or desert or some such and drop some snow it will likely melt, even though you are at the same altitude.

But that is my problem ... 'It is biome related. Snow won't melt in places where you can see snow on the ground not melting.' is not true, but I thought the same ... I had snow melt at the highest level, so ... in the snow area. I thought that was not possible but it did, just have no clue why and how ... :(

Yeah. Sometimes they 'break.' I think that it is somewhat like the hardened lava turning into liquid lava. You can drop the snow block sometimes and it will just sit there. If you pick it up and replace it in the same spot, then it might melt.

There are temperatures associated with different block types (hardened lava and sand are pretty warm) and they contribute to whether or not a different block changes state. I'm not saying the sim is perfect, but you should be able to create a small amount of water in a snow biome. The biome itself does have a pretty big modifier which contributes to keeping things cold up there. It's true that blocks are evaluated when they are placed, so you may see some inconsistencies.

Thx Mike :)

Hi all :) Think of it in terms of temperature, not biome. This is the beginning of a system, and it's not fully implemented yet, but think about things that might be hot and things that might be cold and how they might affect surrounding blocks. . .
