Making a corrupt biome
My question is does corrupt stone spawn more than corrupt wood or corrupt dirt? I've never seen a chest or any creatures spawn on corrupt leaves...so won't have any corrupt leaves or corrupt water...just curious about the dirt/stone/wood.

you need everything to make a working biome wood stone dirt leaves and water you can make a tiny spawner with less blocks but for a surface corruption biome you need all . closed room no light .

Look in the guide section, filter by newest, and look for my updated Thing guide. There isn't much there in the way of corruption mats, just stone and dirt. I do not use water, wood, or leaves unless I just happened to grab while getting stone.
I'll check it...thank you :)

You don't really need the water. I firebomb all the water out of my spawning areas to maximize available spawn surfaces. You will need wood & leaves if you want corrupted Leafies, but I've never witnessed them spawning ON the leaves, only nearby. So make sure several chunks have lots of leaves in them (at least 100) but also other surfaces for the Leafies to spawn on. The other surface can be nearly anything solid. I've seen them spawn on crafted blocks, fences, and even on the end-of-the-world blocks right next to leaves. What I did to avoid all the math is build the leaf areas in strips, strip of leaves followed by strip of stone & repeat. The Leafies are VERY happy with that. They're happiest with an area where I put a huge platform of leaves about 4 blocks above the spawn surface (the leaf pad spawns nothing on top of it but it's in the same chunk as the spawning surface below so it attracts lots of Leafies).

As far as dirt/stone goes, I've never tested a difference. I mostly use stone but I throw in dirt now & then. I really don't know if there's any difference between them. I see Things trapped in the ceiling in corruption a lot & they're always trapped on stone. (They used to get trapped on corrupted tress but that was several updates ago.) This leads me to believe stone is better for Things & probably Miru too.
Thank you...that is very interesting :)

You can make a corrupted spawner with nothing but corrupted dirt (which serves no other purpose in the game -- it isnt used to craft anything). It will spawn every type of corrupted mob except corrupted leafi, and there is nothing you get from that mob that you cannot get from another mob. Things and chests will spawn just fine on a 10x10 slab of c.dirt. (must be nighttime or 100% enclosed from all light for chests to spawn). The bigger you make the spawner, the faster/more mobs you will spawn.

I highly recommend entuland's All Mobs Spawner for general spawning purposes:

or the adaptation i made from it specifically for corrupted layer:

Note that both of these builds are extremely big, so you may want to scale it back :) I also highly recommend building yoru spawner out in the middle of the ocean (usually locate din the corners of your map) so that you dont get spawn interferance from surrounding claims.
thank you...i love big builds...will definetly check those out :)

Actually, I've seen diamond treasure chests spawning on corrupted leaves, and corrupted leafies spawn there very often too. Since there aren't too many corrupted leaves on the corruption layer, I've built an arena from corrupted leaves, and it works just as well as any other corrupted block type :)
hmmmmm now that is interesting....got a big biome in the works....so looks like all the corrupt blocks will be involved :) thank you all for your input....given me a lot of very cool ideas :D

Since we're tossing out ideas out here, this reminded me of this ol' BP from the Workshop that I got a looong time ago. It seemed quite neat aesthetically speaking and at the same time seemed to be effective enough to give it a shot.

Alas for my plans, in the world where I started playing, I've encountered a small air pocket inside the corruption, which was right besides my outpost there and it served that purpose just fine (i.e., blame the croaking Keepas), so I never actually made that BP upon that world's corner. ;'p

Moktoa and I made a test platform of only corrupt leaves over the ocean. All mobs spawned on it plus chests - addiing 10 hardended lava blocks to each 16x16 area increased leafi spawning. it was actually a test to see if more than 1 corrupted leafi would spawn at a time, so I just have a photo of them
