The best you can do is skipping the night by sleeping in a bed as of right now.
I used to make weird glass slab ceilings at the top of the sky to cast darkness over corruption spawners about 150 blocks beneath, and doing that during the day was quite painful (you pretty much only see clear sky at that altitude and glass slabs become almost invisible in that scenario) for that reason I used to skip the day and work only during the night (sleeping in beds will allow skipping day or night depending on your current in-game time).
If you're alone on a world, dropping a bed & taking a nap can top your health off much faster than dropping a healing beacon, standing on top of it, waiting for the heal over time... waiting some more... And if you have any mob spawners nearby, the new day/night is likely to trigger a wave of spawns over the next few minutes.
