***Build & Share #21 - Steampunk City: The Docks ***

Welcome to the Creativerse Build & Share! This will be a bi-weekly (every 2 weeks) building challenge which everyone is invited to participate in. It does not matter if you build awe inspiring, jaw dropping masterpieces or you are a building beginner who wants to increase your building skills and get inspired and involved in our great community. We are just having some fun....because games are supposed to be fun!

Challenge #21 - Steampunk City: The Docks

You've fallen through time to a 19th century H.G. Wells inspired Steampunk City! In this challenge you are down in part of the seediest and busiest parts of the city, the docks. This is where cargo from around the world gets loaded and unloaded, passenger ships are spilling over with curious tourists, and the streets are lined with warehouses, eateries, and taverns for those thirsty sailors! What do you see....what inspires you?..........Build it and lets see!

*If anyone needs any premium blocks crafted for them, just holler. I'm sure there will be someone online who can pop in and make them for you. Just have the mats ready for us. You can find the recipes here: http://creativerse.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_all_Items_in_Creativerse.

Prizes:

The prizes will be awarded on a lottery system. Your submitted build will be your lottery ticket and I will draw names at the end of the 2 weeks. Each participant will have one submission to the prize lottery. However, you may submit as many builds as you wish. Prizes will be provided by our generous developers, Playful Corp.

We will have five 500 coin bundles for prizes this time around so get get busy building if you'd like a few extra coins to jingle about in your Creativerse pocket!

Duration:

You have two weeks going through Sunday, April 15th
(I'm not sitting here with a stop watch so as long as it's posted before I grab a cup of coffee Monday morning and sit down at the computer, you're good ;)

Rules:

All entries must be original work done by you. Participants submitting another builder’s work will be disqualified from the current challenge.
No blueprints by another person may be used unless it is part of the challenge. However, you can certainly use your own bp's in your building process.

Please feel free to add a link to an Adventure or workshop item showing off your build.
Rules may be added as we go along if we find they are needed to keep everything fair and running smoothly

**This is a fan run challenge. Playful corp has offered to provide prizes but otherwise will not be involved in the administration of the challenges. I am hosting these events solely as a Creativerse player and fan outside of my role as a volunteer steam forum moderator for Creativerse

Entry Details:
Sheepings & Sons, LTD, shipwrights, in the New World. Commissioned to build the Heavy Metal Argonaut for famed opportunist, explorer, & treasure hunter Dr. Ludwig Archibald Sheepfield von Sheepstone-Hodges.

Join Dr. Sheepfield as he travels the Aegean islands on his epic quest to find the fleece of the golden ram sacrificed by Phrixus to the god Poseidon. The ship is christened after that which carried Jason & his crew to find the fleece in the 8th century BC. The story of Jason takes him throughout Greece, Crete, the Aegean isles, Georgia, and Turkey, as well as both the Black & Mediterranean Seas. Dr. Sheepfield is a studious sheep, however. The ram was sired by Poseidon, sacrificed to Poseidon, and its fleece would inevitably find its way to Poseidon, he is sure. The islands above may offer clues, but Dr. Sheepfield is convinced the fleece is to be found on the ocean floor, and he has commissioned exactly the ship to find it.

The Heavy Metal Argonaut melds elegance with practicality. Who says you can't squeeze an oily submersible bay, a bunch of common laborers, gentlemen & ladies & their families, and a gorgeous dining area with a dance floor & a spectacular view all into the same vessel? At Sheepings & Sons, LTD, we did just that. We used all the black iron, brass, plates, & rivets we could find to build this beautiful monster of a ship.

The Heavy Metal Argonaut is the ultimate exploratory vessel! The shallow keel and paddlewheel propulsion allow ingress into waters as shallow as the Mississippi River itself, while its sails & sideboard paddlewheels enable it to brave the high seas to traverse the globe, or simply power through difficult weather. The aerosails along both sides provide extra propulsion in a good chasing wind, or can serve as mechanical oars in a dead calm. Whatever the weather, the Heavy Metal Argonaut is designed to move forward!

And when the Heavy Metal Argonaut is finally stopped, its greatest cargo has the chance to shine. A submersible bay is equipped to maintain, repair, & launch 2 submersibles to work in tandem. These STEVe's (Sumbersible Tactual Exploratory Vessels) have mechanical tactual arms controlled by their pilots, enabling them to sift through wreckage & extract exactly what is desired. A treasure hunter's dream, no sunken vessel is safe from their intrusions.

Entry Details: Two cranes, bipplane, cargo zeppelin, cargo ferryboat, radiostation, warehouse, changing room for workers, two stands with food, bar (for sailors), train with two wagons. Almost every switch and lever does something (mostly turns on/off lights or engines, it can rebuilded at any high and easly connected to other builds.

Very good points. This boat is looking very good on paper, tho. Terribly chaotic, a challenge to design, probably super fun to build. I simply have to do both. But which to focus on first?

The answer is clear. I have to flip a coin. Here's one with a boat on the back. Perfect.

The coin says no boat. Welcome center it is! (Locomotive & airship included, of course.)

THEN... I'll build the boat.

In the meantime, I already have the airship blueprinted. Oh, but it's set private until the contest starts, which has happened. And I have neither picture nor blueprint of the locomotive. I'll be back...

Darn you for making that locomotive..... I keep going back to look at it and can't get anything done. Love all things steampunk and this captures it completely.

Now you can put it wherever you need and go back to it all you want. ^^ If you build right next to it that will minimize your time spent walking back & forth. Or you could build AROUND it. Everyone likes a good train station. Or behind it! I plan to make it longer someday, but that may not be anytime soon.

Another peril crisis averted! As you were, citizen. (And if we could keep that coin flip on the down low... y'know, since I totally ignored it & built the boat anyway.) >.>
