However, I would like to let my kids play the game too - under my supervision. And I'd love for them to try the questing system too. But when I create a new world, the quest progress carries on from where I left off.
Does anyone know if it's possible to reset the quests back to the beginning? Or if the option is planned? Maybe a world creation option?
Try this /quests resetall
That depends on the children's age - the minimum age for a steam account is 13.
another steam account is the only way to repeat quests
Actually
if you have gmail you can have as many accounts as you want.
for example. If your gmail email is thegoofyone@gmail.com, you can then sign up on steam for the following email addresses
thegoofyone@gmail.com
t.hegoofyone@gmail.com
th.egoofyone@gmail.com
the.goofyone@gmail.com
theg.oofyone@gmail.com
thego.ofyone@gmail.com
thegoo.fyone@gmail.com
thegoof.yone@gmail.com
thegoofy.one@gmail.com
thegoofyo.ne@gmail.com
and so on and so forth.
Every email listed above forwards the email to the base address; thegoofyone@gmail.com
steam will send all password resets for all accounts to the original email address you made.
So you only need one email address and can control hundreds of accounts.
Why?
So you can have a touchstone for each biome, area, etc
I have accounts named, spawn, admin, jungle, tundra, mountains, corruption, etc etc.
Sure you can go crazy and take over a world 2 claims at time, but after a while you realize this is annoying.
Remember, free accounts are nerfed on steam and cannot do much of anything like vote on workshop items, or post on steam.
You can at least make a bunch of accounts to create touchstones.
Just make sure you abide by Steam's terms of service and you will be fine. Don't harrass people or trick the system, or any such thing.
It does make it kinda cool if you log all your other accoutns in, one at a time, to grab giveaway chests for your primary account :D
Seems like it would be an easy thing to just limit the coin reward to once per account. That way a quest reset wouldn't be a problem and people could mess around with them over and over if they wish. I've seen similar systems in other games where the first time you do a thing you get a reward, but subsequent runs get you nothing (except for fun, yay!). Pretty simple stuff if they wanted to do it...of course I don't know if they wnat to do it, but....yeah lol
At any rate Devs you have made a very good game, I keep coming back to it.
to the main topic tho: i wish there was a way to reset quests are a world option to reset it for that world only kind of like the recipes being account/world bound :?
It's not only coin farm :V You can farm resources too ;d Kill 10 mobs get 20x their drops + drop you have got.
We as veteran users seemed to grab the quest feature and marathon it to the finish. In the end it just seems like a waste of time. For a few somewhere soon after reaching max coins decide it's too much of a bother because we have already been there.
What is lost to veterans is we achieve these goals time after time, over and over as we play normally. There are few differences between playing like we have been doing and doing the quests, like the achievement rewards and the concentration on the goals. The vets don't need the rewards the goals offer but getting them automatically for achieving the goals through normal game play would be nice.
One could argue that you can write down a list of goals for new users or just anyone to achieve or throw them together in an adventure and have the same thing.
In the long run this new feature will template future events such as the holiday events. The debut as a tutorial or progress event system is a genius idea. I have seen many new users drop in from Minecraft, look for the creative mode, attack the first mobs they see, die, quit and never pick it up again.
As holiday events arrive the main quests we see now possibly will be replaced with holiday quests instead of just throwing it out there every holiday.
Resetting the goals would be a nice feature but really how many people would actually redo the quests past two or three times. Personally I would just play the game like I normally do and at some point when I achieve a goal it would just be a random deal.
How many people set the alarm to get the login bundle when the timer resets rather than just getting it when you randomly login.
