You can also purchase kits with all blocks in them if you want to do it quickly.
There might be another function I've never tried but I'd have to check out if I'm right and exactly what it is.
have you tried activating the blueprint after placing it
If you just want to build as-is, right-click or press F on the cornerstone to activate it and it will show you the first few blocks. Blocks in your world that appear framed in red are in the way and need to be removed.
If you want to change things, e.g. not use expensive iron walls, but shredded leaves, you need to have a block of shredded leaves in your inventory first. Again right-click of press F on the cornerstone, but then do it again and it'll open a window, showing you a preview of the building and the needed materials. Click "customize" and then drag-and-drop the shredded leaves over the iron wall icon to substitute the block. The preview of the building will change to show you how it will now look like. Also, the coin costs to buy the building material should adjust to reflect the cheaper material. It is not necessary to buy the material, that's just for people like me who have more money than patience ;).
You can de-activate the burst fill for the blocks in your game settings und "controls", if you like.
Have fun!
