What would be the official measurements of a block?
I like spaceships. And I like to reproduce spaceships from tv shows or movies. The thing is, I have no idea what the size of a block is supposed to be. Is 1 block = 0.5m? 1m? 0.33m?

I just finished designing and building Darth Vader's Advanced Tie Fighter, assuming that 2 blocks = 1 m. The problem is that it ended looking a little too big.

Would it be possible (please!) to get a semi-official statement from the devs on what would be the real world size of a block?

Thank you!

Typing // gives you a partial number (decimal) and attempting to jump in a 2-block space supports that number, but I think that's only for the game engine. Trying to squeeze down a 1x1 hole takes some practice. Can you imagine how many more bugs we'd be seeing if we were trying to squeeze a 2-block-high character into a 2-block-high hallway every time we stepped off a flight of stairs?

If you look at your character in 3rd person, we're almost 2 blocks high. If each block were a meter, that would make us all quite a bit taller than 6 feet. Rather giant. Average height is 5'6'' - 5'7". That's a bit short for the guys, a bit tall for the gals, but an overall average. Since we're all adolescents (our character's appearance) that'd be even shorter, but only by a bit. By mid-teens, most girls are full grown and boys are pretty close to their adult height. So we're better off using the female average, which is 5'4". There will always be unusually tall teenagers who make this number look tiny, but there will also always be unusually short teenagers who make this number look huge.

Sooo... My math puts each block a few inches shy of 3 feet (2'9") or about 0.85 meters. This agrees with your hunch about the fighter's large size.

Excellent build! Looks like Leafi's got that wing just about patched.

Devs have said that each block is 1 meter square.

While i agreee on the logic of our Lucky Sheep, it doesnt apply.
Missing far too many other physic rules for this logic to apply.
The characters we play are as 'large' so they dont look tiny and are reckognizeable.
You wouldnt want to be attacked by a pigsy of your size, would you?

1 Block is 1meter.
2 blocks is 2m.
3 blocks 3m.. You'll know because you must have a 3m ceiling when standing on your bed (height 1m + 2m to the ceiling), if the ceiling was only 2m where your bed is, you'r head be'd stuck in the ceiling...

People seem to forget, the averege RL apartement/house has rooms higher than 2m... about 2.20 or 2.40....
Oh btw... devs are americans, so they might actualy have their block size set to something like 3.3 ft :p

1.1 meters is the size. One of the devs answered that question in a diffront post last year.

Guess that sums it up. Appearances aside, our toons are all Icelandic.

The only thing that bothers me with the 1m size block is the stairs : Seriously two steps in a 1m block : 50cm step ?! A step is usually 20cm.
It's make stairs unrealistic or everything else (especially doors) looks too small.
Gillsgills Nov 3, 2017 @ 7:28am
Using what you guys said:

If we use stairs as a reference, blocks would be ~0.4m, lets say 0.5m.
If we use doors as a reference, blocks would be ~1m.
If we use the toons, blocks would be ~0.85m.

If we use the first assumption, our toons would be very short and doors would be very small.
If we use the second assumption, our toons would be giant vikings, with teenagers 2m high.
If we use the third assumption, the only weird thing would be the stairs. And the doors.

Maybe I should stop trying to make sense to dimensions and stay with my 2 blocks = 1 m reference, which makes buiding stuff smoother and aesthetically pleasing.
tl;dr text: I think size in the game is mear illusion of the mind, expand the mind with imagination and all sizes are true as well false at any given time.

Long text:
I may not be a dev for this game but i would like to think outside the devs having stated in the past the exact size a block is, the true mesurements are somewhat best seen as partly cartoony logic in nature as well all of the creative mind hence the game name.
now id also like to bring up if i recall from the notes and data chips in the world the backstory (well old intended backstory/lore) hints that the world is not one the player is from and could even be a diffrent reality and id think chances be high thats its a diffrent reality
with a diffrent reality the rules and laws of nature may not directly be the same for 1:1 some might not even be there or new one could be present
it may all not seem relevent at first but the point is that the game world could infact be in a reality that our real world mesurements will surely have paradoxes to making them fit when in that reality it may just seem normal for everything
in the end i think all the diffrent mesurments are correct as well wrong at the same time as we are to be creative with what we have, untill recently text in builds seemed highly limiting but then people found ways to use them as art that only a few creative minds felt could be done and look at how it is now somewhat simple clear and tighly packaged
---
id also like to say when the devs said the size could it be taken as if the block model themself in digital form was 3d printed 1:1 --- or could it be that is just the dimensions if it left its reality and came to ours (as in if the game reality its diffrent size but is warped by physics or such being different. Unless the Devs were to release all the logic behind the game world i dont think we could clearly narrow things down without leaving rmove for the imagination of creative minds to think of unknowns in new ways

Yeah, that too: there are some cartoonish elements to the game (which I like a lot), and they make proportions sometimes hard to follow.

In my mind evrything (block) is 1 cubic year (.9 meters or whatever). I think most other players see it in what way they want. Probly just blocks for most. That's how it should be too in the end.
