No farming in mountain biomes?
Anyone find a way to grow crops in/near a mountain base? I saw some posts that suggest mountain and swampland biomes will always cause fallow crops, but also saw someone else who grew stuff in cave in a mountain biome. I haven't been able to do that, wondering if anyone else has pulled this off. Guessing I have to do a disconnected claim in grasslands/forest to have a farm :-(

You might have to warm up the area with hardened lava or firepits in order to grow crops in the mountains.

It seems that they are going for some realism in where you can place cropps. Everything from the tempreture to the elevation itself can stop plants from growing. If PVP were expanded and people could sige eachothers creations and such, where you could place cropps will make a lot more seance in the seance that its just a game and I should be able to plant anywhere.

Just the crafty part of this game is Great, but I have played with a few people trying to figure out how Creativerse might be able to do full scail Sieges and Army Vs Army type PVP one day. The maps are so big a few people and I started to do our own Game of Thrones. Westerose and some of Essos were almost to scale as is. THE MAP mind you, only Winterfell was well under way in game lol. We got bogged down trying to figure out PVP and Warfare lol. We had a working Small Counsel and we were really getting it done lol. But since we are just playing a game and BSing, everyone else not in charge of something got bored and there ADD kicked in or something lol.

You might be able to get away with building your farms under ground if you use the lava walls idea and mineral water. I build under ground farms, but not in the mountains yet come to think of it. I tend to build Castles on open land.

Well the weird thing is that the mountain is next to a jungle biome, so there is natural grass and temp is near 100 degrees in this part of my claim. Not cold at all. But seeds were still fallow. I had to go claim a random grasslands claim for my farm and connect using teleporters. Would have preferred the farm right there on my mountain grass lol

Back when i was on Playful's public world, I use to build on the mountains and underground and have no problems with it. Haven't tried it again though. I recently made a farm at the canyons but it was lit with lamps

areas of the world are fallow, no matter what you do.

a recent farm of mine was in mountain biome, gas lamps next to the crops with mineral water.

It was inbetween three mountains on a small parchment of grass, even normal tree's grew nearby.

must we only farm at the base of mountains? is farming possible at peakstone level? Currently building in mountain biome, I would like to do indoor farming but high altitude..

I don't see too many farms in the upper alps, just cattle grazing.

Nor are there any farms in the upper Andes, mostly potato are grown at lower mountain elevations

Farms, by and large, are at the lowest elevations. Why?

Because that is where weather is most temeprature, stable, and where water is most likely to constantly be at.

Farms do not belong in mountains.

Unless you're Norwegian. We'll make stuff grown on bare stone if we have to.

I have also tried to make mountain farms in Creativerse though, and seems that too high and it's just fallow no matter what. Haven't really checked if that has to do with the biome, I thought it had to with the height/temperature etc.

I'll give this a try and report back. Will have to go find some mineral water--just got started and just got diamond mining cell on this particular world.

I've had farms in the mountains, at the peakstone layer. Temp was above freezing. They grew fine.

Yeah, I think that some places are fallow no matter what. I used mineral water, put dirt/grass 2 deep, etc. Fallow regardless of what I use or how I set it up. Oh well!

EDIT: I planted in another mountain biome where the temp was 80 instead of 98-100 and the seeds planted just fine. Don't know if the temp is the difference, or just that it's not next to jungle at the new place.
