From an XP point of view you also get more points for a non-lethal takedown.
On the plus side for killing them, some of the kill cut-scenes can be fun to watch, especially dual takedowns.
Killing or not killing is a choice given by the game.
The point that neutralizing or killing makes no difference. You can loot in both cases the person. In many games one way is better for the player. Normaly the player decide whats is better for him. In this case both is equal. So you can decide which way you like.
The more noise when you kill is stupid, why can't you kill in silent? ;) Moreover, what prevents you from killing someone once he is uncounscious? I don't say in the game, but really... when someone is uncouscious you should be able to kill him anyway ^^
Something I dislike as well is that if I specialize myself in piracy and stealth, I have a disadvantage with the end of level bosses as I do not have what it requires to kill them efficiently ;) Sure I can, but it is not optimal. Good that the first boss was stupid, I killed him by hiding behind a pillar and turning around a pillar and shot him with my 10 mm pistol in the head when he stopped shooting at me ^^
It kinda does - your play style will be reflected in Jensens moral evaluation of himself in the end game choice.
Oh well, I guess thinking such added more game time for me as I redid areas that turned into an unintentional blood bath/gunfight.
Some of you might like Dishonored -- though it's very dark and differenent.
But in that game, there are consequences for chosing to kill vs. not, both in the game and the ending.
In that game though you can accidently (or purposely, to hide a body or otherwise) kill an unconsious person. So the OP makes a good point.
The commandos in black I kill every time, no exceptions, no mercy. Belltower guys I will leave alive if they are respectful, the ones with a smart mouth I usually kill. Now once they invade and massacre the entire population of the Alice Garden pods, from then on I kill every belltower soldier I encounter in that city. In fact the only belltower guy I spare after that point is the one that lets you into that factory after you save his buddy from the chemical spill, I just knock him out.
I never spare the Harvesters, and would actually pay money for an patch that would allow me to execute Tong right there in his office chair.
Basically I play as the garbage man, and I take out the trash.
Edit: Forgot to mention that douche that is forcing his girls to get augments so he can manipulate them over the neuropozine. I like to give him flying lessons from the roof of that building.
You know you can save her right, he does not need to kill her, and you get some good info off him later for a side quest as well as some stuff of her husband.
