- tweaking your antivirus settings/disabling antivirus
- using the Nvidia control panel to be sure that the game is being handled with the Nvidia card
- manually run the following 2 files and then reboot
- ...\steamapps\common\deus ex - human revolution\redist\dx90c\DXSETUP.exe
- ...\steamapps\common\deus ex - human revolution\redist\vcredit\vcredist_x86.exe
- turn off Steam cloud sync
- running the game in offline mode
I don't have any anti-virus software, just the basic windows defender but I checked those two setup files, turned off cloud sync and started in offline mode. I made sure that the game is trying to use my card too but none of it helped.
Still the same situation, preparing for a second and then nothing. :(
I got a new PC around a year ago and have just gotten around to giving it another try. :/
I meant purchasing the Director's Cut version and trying that. If that one didn't work you could get a refund on that copy.
Good point.
Possibly, but wouldn't running in compatability mode solve that? because I tried that and it doesn't.
I guess I could do that, I just don't want to buy the game again on the off chance it might work this time, y'know? Besides, it's happening with other games too so it must be a problem with steam and not the game.
You can use this example (adjust to your path) to start the game from cmd or shortcut
C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /C START "Deus Ex Human Revolution - Director's Cut" /AFFINITY FF /D "D:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Deus Ex Human Revolution Director's Cut" "D:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Deus Ex Human Revolution Director's Cut\DXHRDC.exe"
Go msconfig set cpu affinity to 4 and restart. No fix But a work around
