Ending A not working? (Resolved)

Having some trouble getting Ending A to trigger. I've done everything I can remember and look up to get it.

-Only confirmed Laura or Ann dying. I go out of my way to make sure I never see the other one die.
-Got put in the cage in the shed.
-Freed the crow and did not use them to escape Scissorman.
-Took the elevator to floor 3.

Result, however, always seems to be Ending B as the surviving friend never appears.

Not sure what I'm missing or if its a glitch. I have ending S, so I know I'm not messing up anything regarding making sure only seeing Laura or Ann die and not both.

EDIT: Seems like my first attempt had an odd fluke to it. Managed to get it finally, even though I did nothing different. Thanks everyone who helped anyway.

I recently played the Rewind version again, and Ending A can appear without any problems.

Maybe you used the stick on the bird's nest? Cause that locks you out of endings A and S.

Oh, I never knew that locked you out of an ending. I guess it makes the bird get mad at you and not want to help

Never heard of that before. Not in any wiki or guide or anything.

I kept getting the West Wing Key in the room with the TV so I never had a reason to touch the nest.

Yeah I didn't know for the longest time. The same thing also happens if you use the crows to escape Bobby in the Original Mode.

Well I'll be, never knew poking the nest could affect the ending too. Then again how could I when I already knew where the west wing key would be, if it was in the living room box I'm certainly not going out of my way to the 2nd floor crow's nest just to poke at it for no reason.
