Twenty dollars is a ripofff
Twenty friggin' dollars for a semi functional re-issue of almost a thirty year old game. With zero to none improvements. If that's not a textbook ripoff then it surely creates an additional meaning for it.

"Zero to none improvements". Uh, if you did any research or read the store page or any review, you'd know that's not true at all.

$20 is a good price for what you get. The original version translated in English and other languages, the Deluxe / Rewind version with quality-of-life enhancements and new gameplay / situations translated in English and other enhancements, unlockable motion comics, sound/music player, various manual and box scans, and an interview with Director Hifumi Kohno. How the hell is all of that not worth $20?

Beats spending $60+ on a Japanese Super Famicom cart you can't even understand.

As a Clock Tower fan, I saw that the deluxe version of Hack rom was officially released (with modifications based on the deluxe version to make the game experience better), and a multi-language version was also officially released, although it did not add voice to the game and it was not redrawn , which is a pity, but it is already good.

I'm a huge CT fan, ever since 1997. I love the rewind features like random Scissorman arrivals, chasing you properly through doors/stairs, and theres even some jumpscares I don't remember. The only thing I don't use is the actual rewind thingy, its not very necessary.

All that said, this should be 10 bux

i heard that there was going to be voice acting added to it, true or false?

There's voice acting for the unlockable motion comics in the Extras section. The intent was to keep the original game as-is while also adding a version with some gameplay improvements.

It would be better if this game could add voice acting for the characters in the game, after all, this game does not have a lot of dialogue.

I don't think VA would suit this particular game, that would be more in line with the sequel. If it was done right, it might..

It's not aiming to change the original, just allow it to even be PLAYED on modern tech, because if you knew anything, you'd know it's so old that it'd be otherwise incompatible. This game aims to showcase the original experience with minimal changes / enhancements that'd make the experience difference. This game is meant for fans of the original and people who wanted to experience the game as it was in the 90's.

If you don't like it, fine, maybe it's not FOR you.

Jesus, man. I myself played it for a first time in 1998 or so on a pirate cartridge with bad machine translation, like many Japanese games from late 80s-early 90s which, at that time, found its way onto post-Soviet market space, and then, in around 2006 if I remember correctly, with much better English translation on emulator. So, naturally, being pretty familiar with the original (sadly having only vague memories of it,given I played it so long ago) I expected much more QoL improvements, especially graphically, as improving at least graphics won't go against the original experience if the story of gameplay are not altered/excessively modernized to make it feel like a game made today.
You just can't read between the lines, don't you?

Sure, some folks experienced the game "in its original form" via emulator back in the day, but it wasn't an official release. This is that official release, 29 years later. Before any graphical improvements come into play I think it's fair to finally share the original to the masses in an official capacity.

Honestly it's annoying when companies remaster or remake a game but never port the original as well so that people can experience the OG. Sure, we got Live A Live HD2D Remaster, but we never got the original in the West at all. When Trials of Mana remake got announced, a translated version of the original got released in the West beforehand. That's the real way to do it.

Now that Clock Tower: Rewind is out and bringing the OG to the West, maybe a future project could be a bigger remaster or remake.

Perhaps the biggest mistake was to emphasize voice work, the animated intro, and new music so heavily in the trailers. While it was also clear it would just be a touched up port, it does mean a lot of potential went untapped. Using all those things in a more extensive remaster/remake (or at least a reskin like Dragon's Trap) would have been nice.

I'm still happy with the finished product, but I do wish there had been more done.

I do like Rewind mode though. The buffs to Scissorman really make the game more fun.
