Is this a rewind change? because in the SNES version you could fight back to knock him down.
I've only seen fight back happen twice. The second doll room and the pool just after Anne gets killed.
Some say its because you are "close to wall" but that cant be right.
I suppose the explaining is that "it just is"..
One time I managed to die right at the beginning of the game in bath because I was lazy to open door after Jessica closed it and even when I spammed run button during cutsene, it was already too late. Tho in previous runs it wasn't an issue at all.
That usually happened when you're trapped, like if you climbed onto the barn in the garage but forgets to push the ladder down and he climbs up after you, you'll be trapped, or if you did push the ladder down but was standing too far to the left when he burst through the ceiling and is close enough to do the takedown animation before you can react. The other time is when you hide in the bathroom, and he breaks the door down.
Not sure if it was a glitch or anything, but in the original during a chase when you get close to a door to open it, there's a chance he'll suddenly appear off screen and shove the scissor through, even now I'm still wary when trying to leave a room and hope he doesn't show up at the door.
