Late game aluminum shortage
Am I missing something or is getting enough aluminium to get the last tier of upgrades and/or repairing the Javelin unreasonably grindy?

It's taken me ages just to get enough for the last few upgrades. and now I'm thinking I should just spend it on the Javelin, because otherwise I'm going to have to spend hours more grinding.

I guess at this point I don't really need any of those upgrades, since the only thing I'd use them for is to help me grind the resources for the Javelin more efficiently. With no unexplored areas on any of the maps, that seems too boring though.

tl;dr: Endgame has resource balancing problems.

It depends of how you've played. I would try to pick up any resource deposits I noticed throughout the game, and most of the resources that enemies dropped, and I didn't have any issues with lacking aluminum.
But if you're in the endgame at this point and haven't done that before, then yes, it sounds like grinding would be your only option.
On the other hand, you should be able to beat the end game without all upgrades, too. Having them should just make it easier.

My friend and I are playing a few hours once a week, we're on the third planet, and we have thousands of each resource in reserve. That said, our play styles lean towards the explore everywhere, kill everything, and loot ♥♥♥♥♥ varieties. So if you're not doing much "squirreling" ,as we call it (see something interesting and hare off towards it, constantly), but are instead focusing are progressing the story by yourself, then yeah, I could see resources being a bit of a bottleneck.
I mean, I've hardly avoided exploring. As I said, I have each planet's map uncovered in full.

And in the middle game I had more resources than I knew what to do with too. But once you have the final tier of equipment unlocked, and you need to repair the Javelin (each part is a 1000+ aluminium), you quickly eat through those, and by then the only way to get more resources is to kill creatures, which only give you tiny amounts each.

Which is weird, since if you have unlocked the upgrade which double the survey radius, it should be easy to find resource nodes. Add that to the upgrade which shows what resources it is by colour, you can simply run around all 4 planet and have more than enough resources to upgrade everything, fix the javelin, and got leftovers by the thousands.

I know because I just pretty much 100% the game with almost 3,000 of each resources leftover...
You may need a bit of grinding but there is more than enough, I’ve upgraded everything without any issues.
