In-Game content locked behind "Cosmic Hoarder" Edition
Looking at the Steam page, "Bonus quests and rewards" are exclusive to that edition.

Personally, I am not a fan of day one DLCs where they gate base-game content behind a paywall; but I prefer a DLC I can always buy over pre-order exclusive bonuses.

I feel mixed I guess. Had this been a larger company, I would have been hyper critical of practices such as these and worse ones. For a smaller company with employees not even reaching a 50, I am willing to give some leeway. I understand that for smaller companies, games like these carry more risk. By lowering the base price point, they could reach wider audiences, getting more sales, and then selling a "support pack" for those that want to help the devs or are super into the game. However, normally these just carry external bonuses, instant access to unlock-able cosmetics, or even just some exclusive cosmetics (which I'm already feel "eh" about as cosmetics and aesthetics are part of the game experience). However, locking actual content feels kind of "ugh" to me.

I am someone that loves to support developers, that loves to buy their soundtracks, their art-books, but practices like these are just off-putting. So here I am, trying to start a discussion. From the prospective players looking to buy this game to the players that already bought the deluxe edition, and even you, the developers: Let me hear your thoughts.

This is ALWAYS scum practice.

Case in point:

For people who simply haven't heard of the game but would love the game enough to buy the highest edition and they miss the purchase window... they can NEVER fully support the game they might love....

another example:
kids who aren't old enough to buy games yet, that either know about the game and can't buy it or who might hear about it a year later and love it... can't possibly get all the content even though they might want it.

There is simply no reason for ANY time locked digital content.... EVER.

We all live these short lives, and there will be millions of people in the future that what.... simply aren't allowed to experience simple history that should easily be able to be preserved by the time we are all dead and gone....?

In a correct universe these scum practices would be illegal.

Is Cosmic Hoarder Edition time-locked? My understanding was that it's just day one DLC (which I already dislike). If so, that's extra scummy.

Its not pre-purchase its just a deluxe edition
tbh after the dev (To my understanding) got screwed over by their publisher from their previous title and now they are self publishing i understand why they doing it
it aint the best practice but if this game is any good as their first game im 100% for it

I might be wrong and maybe it's not time locked, that might be another game i'm thinking of. But I'm leaving my entire comment because I think the entire point is valid and hopefully gets more people to open their eyes.
Not time-locked and there's achievements locked behind the Day 1 DLC if you care about that sort of thing... Very lame.

I enjoy 100% games.
so I wasn't expecting achievements being locked behind the deluxe edition.
I'm gonna pass on this one.

For sure, It's just rare.
I'm in no rush and will wait for a big sale.
It's mind boggling that this hasn't been introduced by Steam since day one:

If a separate PAID dlc is going to have achievements.....

THE ACHIEVEMENTS SHOULD BE TIED TO THAT DLC ONLY....

so that you can 100% the game you bought...

If you buy the DLC then you can 100% the DLC...

I have no words for how this wasn't immediately the case for the past 15 years?
however long achievements have been around.
Why is this game under a new company and publisher name? That also seems weird.
