Why do we have to use upscaling?
EDIT: I read a post from a random fellow that said the settings aren't being implemented correctly on Game Pass, so there is nothing to do but wait for more patches or play it as is. I wish I had read that before spending an hour and a half trying to mess with the various engine and settings-files I discovered. I'm hoping that when the settings work as intended using NativeAA on the scaling settings will remove most of the blur.

This is on Game Pass

Maybe it is something very obvious, but why isn't there an option to NOT use an upscaler? It has to be either TSR, FSR or DLSS? I've tried using TSR at 100% and FSR with NativeAA, and there is clearly some scaling still being implemented.

Maybe I'm being silly and have missed an obvious setting, so I am genuinely asking;
Is there a way to turn upscaling completely off in this game?

The game looks very nice when standing still, and gets disturbingly blurry when moving. Distant objects are not so bad, but the character itself turns rather rough to look at the moment I start moving around.

I have a 7800X3D, a 9070XT and 64 GB of 6000MT/s RAM. Surely this computer should be able to run most games without using any upscaling, so why does it seem to be on by default with no means to turn it off?

I've seen a few posts about problems with upscaling, but I myself haven't seen any mention of turning the upscaling off, so I am sorry if this is a repeat of any older posts.

I refuse to play this game till it's fixed. still on the place where they drop you at the beginning of the game. I'm also on the 9070 xt and at least they've put in dlss so optiscaler can find it but it's still not actually doing anything! I think they've released 2 patches for the game pass version and they still haven't fixed it! dlss outputting to fsr4 is exactly the same as tsr and fsr native though it shows as outputting 1080p to 4k regardless of what quality preset you choose. but again its not actually doing anything. same frame rate and visuals as all the fsr and tsr presets.
Is this a amd issue? I'm playing on a 4090 with a ryzen 7 9800x3d and haven't really noticed anything issue. I'm only pointing it out in hope of visibility for people who might be rocking different hardware.

I think this is more of a Game Pass-version problem, but don't quote me on that. It could also be, as you suggest, AMD's FSR being an issue as FSR 3 is somewhat blurry compared to DLSS. I tried forcing XeSS in various settings and config-files to see if it would help, the settings-files suggest that the game supports it, but no amount of configuration actually changes the blurring when moving. As I noted the game looks very crisp and clear while I am standing still, but once I start moving the character becomes very blurry, same with the robot and vegetation around me.

I would prefer to play with no upscaling-techniques at all, but with the way the games launch today I hope more and more add FSR 4 support.

Yeah, I think we just have to wait for a patch to fix the settings/engine-issues on Game Pass.

I actually finally moved away from that starting area and started playing it a bit, and the game itself is really fun. It is a bit different compared to the first game, but I've laughed quite a lot already, though I am struggling to get immersed and really enjoy it because of the blurry graphics. Even after playing for a couple of hours you can't really get used to it, because the moment you stop moving you are reminded how it is supposed to look, and then you start moving and the crisp becomes a blur again. So you get constant reminders that it looks ugly.

It's still a bit of fun though.
