Game wont save

Is anyone else having trouble getting their game to save? I try to save it from the pause menu but when I exit to title the save file isn't present.

Uh... You know the save in menu is just for settings right?

In-game save is done by using a special book on a small table. (There's one just past the registration area near the start)
