Charging Crystals
Ok. So I get into the Ice Caves and love the game up to that point. After a few attempts, I make it past the falling cubes and such (the trick is high jump and boot rockets high up and straight, followed by look down and grapple to the top of a cube and repeat). I get through a few crystal chargin points. But then, there is the point with 2 crystals where you have to use two grapples, charge while flying by crystals on a broken arch (nothing on the top). And then go from looking sideways to straight and rocket boost. Followed by grappling two more times, looking downwards and to the side, in order to grapple the last 2-3 times to the next checkpoint.

Suggestion/request to the devs, make a way to either skip to the next checkpoint after a certain number of failed attempts, or make an easy path that requires basic platforming for those of us that wish to enjoy the story. And I don't mind hard games either. But this was just too hard. I'm just not good enough I guess, because I tried for a while on that part.

I expect to get flack for suggesting it, but I feel the real highlight is the story. And I'm not sure if there is a possibility to add in a skip to next checkpoint system this late, but it is worth asking. I did however get to experience the rest of the story thanks to Youtuber Thesparrowsjourney, and recommend anyone who has similar issues to check out the video if you have the same trouble as me. And hopefully the dev may respond and may be able to help all of us who aren't as talented to enjoy the story.

I did enjoy the rest of the game though. So keep up the great work.

Charging crystals are sometimes unresposive for me I click on them mid air and they dont register the connection even from distances the usually work

Same here. I click on the crystal at the part I describe and 80% of the time, I have to plunge to my death. And that is me at arms length not really as far as some of the crystal shots go. And I did also think that the devs could also add an unlimited grapple option as another way to allow people to avoid the huge spike in difficulty, yet enjoy the story.

I've just played the part you've described a few minutes ago. Even though I had quite some difficulties in other parts of the game (mainly in figuring out what to do next), I've mastered that particular part after a few attempts.

While I'm by no means a very good gamer, I'll like to offer you a few tips that have helped me finishing the ice cave level: First, you may not have realised that you can only charge your grappling hook from the crystals if you have still at least one grappling charge left. It took me quite some time until I noticed this. This might also explain Lahey's missed clicks. Second, try to release the grapple while you're still ascending. If you do that, you'll eventually reach the point where gravity pulls you back down again. During that time, when mid-air movement of your character is minimal, you should aim at your next target. Actually, there is no need to rush, just try to stay calm, click on the crystal (at the broken arch) once, and then aim at the next block.

That very moment in mid-air, where you're basically weightless, allowed me to do turns, orient myself and look for the next grapple target without too much stress. I hope it works for you as well!

If it is unresponsive i can only guess you are not quite close enough. Some you seem to need to be extremely close , others not so much. Can't work out why really. Just the way it is.

Hey thanks for that , i am about to give up on this game. I just can't get past the part with all the stalactites after the save point. Then realsing you have to get through the entire next stage without a single save point. I am just not good enough to do it. So far i have spent 23 hours on this game just getting to this stage. i don't want to give up but i have almost broken the controller from pressing too hard on it when it doesn't repond. Now just pressing a normal jump uses the rocket boots as well and i can't seem to stop that from happening. So frustrated now. Also completely lost the sound and had to reload to get it back again which just added to the frustration. I think i am somewhere near the end. There is a series of stalactites you have to grapple in between recharging from crystals, then go around a corner , do it again , there are two rest platforms on the stage but no save point that i can find. Alot of the time no matter how close i am some of hte stalactites just don't respond and i fall even though it flashes to say i can use that one. This is all after you get the rocket boots back . It would have made more sense to have this section in a challenge stage. Agree with OP that there should be some sort of mode to make it a bit easier either more grapples or just skip it if you just want to see the story. I have gotten that annoyed now i just want to see how it ends so i never have to look at it again.

That seems to be correct (and very annoying) and is IMPORTANT!
But: the game doesn't inform you about that iirc, which is a huge design flaw and a shame imho!

i thought that was obvious sorry as you have to use one to recharge lol. i am sure it actually explains this when the guy first talks about recharging from crystals.

I must have missed that part then.
Which shows it wasn't prominent enough since so many ppl have missed it, even Let's Play ers, like this guy, Scoop
Scoop's Let's Play - A Story About My Uncle - Ep.07 - Ice Cave Pt.2
At around 11:50 he explains he hadn't realized this, why it toök him so many tries.

There is often alot of obscure things in the game. You were probably concentrating on avoiding death . It probably would have been better if it had skippable cutscenes to explain things as you can actually just keep going and even in the middle of a jump the dialogue will still play out like you just started that section.

Anyway i can't finish this game as i don't have enough patience for the ice cave and to make matters worse apparently people said it is only a few mins from the end of the game. i wasted hours and hours just dying over and over on this part.

i even started and finished an entire game now instead 'Lifeless planet'' best game i have ever played actually. Even managed to get it for free with another game.

Lifeless Planet provides a quite similar situation later in the game (hint: lava). Sedatives highly recommended. ;-)
Didn't that turn you off!? :smartsam:
i startet to play with a controler but quit it. try keyboard and mouse! it works so much better because you are faster and can aim "easylie" in the cave (but it's still hard of curse)

Hey there , i managed to comlete the game today with a controller. All i did was increase the FOV to 105 just so the view was a bit more swept back. This compensated for the not so accurate controls of a 360 controller compared to keyboard and mouse. It actually didn't take me too long from there to finish.
Lifeless planet is dead easy compared to this game though but no the lava didn't turn me off. As you had quite a bit of control over jumping and air time , just quickly tap the jet pack upto 5 times before you land and gain alot of air in that game. Then you can easily jump past most danger spots. I did get a bit lost in the lava for a little while though. Just wasn't sure what was safe to jump on but it was overly generous with checkpoints. i finished lifeless planet in one sitting .
i really like the ending of both games and so glad i played both. I have never enjoyed or been so frustrated in gaming in equal measure -playing this since i originally played Demon Souls on PS3.
