Game Slow Down
Been playing for 13 hours now but have just starting experiencing slow game in game (completed Lu Bu campaign and am half way through Shu's campaign). Menus run smooth but when i first get into a mission, its very slow for a few minutes then the rest of the mission alternates between running smoothly and having bad slow down.

Also the cutscenes seem to look worse than they did before? All the characters have weird lines running across their faces,

My system:

Gtx 770, Intel i5 4670k, 8GM Ram.

Could be your GPU temps spiking or the GPU Driver crashing/recovering due to temps.

Aside from doing a clean graphic drivers install with the latest driver (Custom Installation, only selecting the driver and PhysX) not sure what else you can try.

I have this issue all the time and it's not a driver problem as far as I can tell. The biggest sign of this is that the game will run at 60FPS when alt tabbed, and only slows down when the game window becomes your main focus again. For me the slow down usually occurs, and then remains, after using a Musuo attack.

i alt tab now and then and never have slow downs when returning to the game.. which leads me to believe it may be system specific and not in general.. but who knows..

I don't mean to imply alt tabbing is the issue. If you run the game in windowed, and then you tab to another window, you can actually see the frame rate on DW8 go back up. It's the strangest thing really.

That may have to do with the fact that its in windowed mode and not Full screen.
The GPU works differently when in full screen and Windowed.

Example: in Full Screen the GPU is being continuously accessed so the GPUs Clocks dont lower, When in Windowed mode the GPUs clocks are raised when the game is the active window and then when you Alt Tab away from the game the clocks lower to Idle/2D/Power save mode, then when you switch back to the game the clocks raise back to normal.

So that could explain the momentary lapse in FPS when switching between windows.

If thats the case, then its actually normal for it to act this way.

Draug, I opened my GPU monitor program and tried alt+tabbing, and noticed something. When I tabbed back into the game, my GPU never turned back up in clock speed. It seems like the game somehow is losing priority and no longer drawing the power it needs.

For anyone who reads this, a potential fix. Although it is highly counter intuitive for a PC player to want less frames, I set the V-Sync to 2, which locks it at 30 FPS and it solved all my issues.

And there you go, i was correct.

If any game gives you that kind of problem where the clocks dont raise when they are supposed to, either because of you alt tabbing or because the display driver crashes(Display Driver Crashing will give the same effect as what you encountered above) you can use either MSI Afterburner or eVga Precision to fix the Clocks/Driver crash.

Just run the program once or twice and that should reset the clocks.

Strange, I spat when I saw your system, that shouldn't have any problems running the game at all. Close your background programs, downloads or something. Restart pc.

Are you by any chance using any kind of compatibility mode ?

Also the lines in cutscene come from the dynamic shadow being ♥♥♥♥ and are also present in the ps3 version

I had the exact same issue if you use Vsync with a compatibility mode the game will progressively run slower until you crash
TransparentBlue May 21, 2014 @ 1:05pm
Now that i think about it you can force adaptative Vsync via the Nvidia control panel and you shouldn't have this problem

I was having the same issue. I would be getting a perfect frame rate and then after pausing the game it would slow down. ALT TAB-ing would fix this, but it proved to be annoying.

So I just put Post FX on low and now I get no more slow downs after pausing. I barely notice the difference in quality.

Post FX is mostly in regard to Bloom anyway, so it doesnt really effect graphics quality.
just makes things more shiny, colorful n such, a feature i dont like in games as i think it looks better disabled.
