This or the PS4 version?
So give it to me straight, should I get this, (my rig is good enough for max settings), or wait until I eventually buy a PS4? (Which might might not be soon)

What are the advantages of the "next gen" version? Disadvantages?

Also, if it matters, this will be my first DW game should I end up buying it.

It is a minimal port effort, I would highly advise against buying it un-discounted if you are new to the series. Performance and stabilisation issues may still rise regardless of your rig, not to mention controller problems as well. Even with the recent patch your mileage may wildly vary.

But if it runs well it runs well, it clocks at 60fps at a maximum of 1080p while the PS4's framerate goes up and down from 60fps. The PC graphics aren't the best and the PS4 version definitely looks better, but if you enjoy the gameplay graphics should become a non-issue.

However, Sony's Playstation is the game's true home and you will consistently find the best experience playing current and future DW games on the PS4.

If you enjoy therapeutic moments of blowing away hundreds of hapless soldiers then this game is for you.

I think I might wait then, it's not like I'm short on games to play.

I forgot to mention that unlike PC, PS4 will most likely have multiplayer.

PS4 has multiplayer, looks better, no fiddly port issues that some people are having (I personally haven't had any of the loading problems or controller support issues but a lot of people have.)

This version runs at 60 FPS, that's the only real advantage. It's possible there may eventually be some decent mods for it but I wouldn't count on that. So far from what I understand it would seem this game is a pain in the ass to mod in any meaningful way beyond some fairly basic graphical mods.

For me running at 60 FPS is a big enough advantage by itself, but I guess it's less of a priority for some folks so that's your call.

The other thing you may want to consider is waiting until DW8: Empires comes out and grab that, it will likely be a PS4 exclusive, although for your first DW game it might not be the best place to start.

So it's 60 FPS vs everything else. Thanks, I'll have to give it some consideration.

Advantages for the PS4 version? Multiplayer.
Thats ALL.

PC wins everything else. regardless of the minor graphical differences DW8 looks great on PC.

I bought it. I don't even own a PS4 yet and no one I know has a PS4, so I'm more interested in local co-op.

PS4 > PC for this game.

PS4 version if you have a PS4. It has better lighting/shadows as well as textures.
Of course, there's the PS+ multiplayer.

PC version is glitchy on some graphic cards, controller, and windows OS. It's a lousy port but it's cheaper and playable when it works. Only local co-op.
