So what am I doing wrong? (unlocking Shu's Hypothetical route)

I'm trying to complete all the requirements, and the one that's hanging me up is the "Defeat all retreating forces" in the Defense of Xu Province.

I notice the game highlights a group of reinforcements in the southwest who are ordered to retreat when the three defense objectives are achieved.

So I figured "Well, the only dude in the area who can feasibly engage them is Zhang Fei" so I pick him, clean house and kill all the officers and their armies before they can leave the map.
Yet, it still doesn't give me credit for this.

So, if anyone knows, who EXACTLY are in that group of dudes I need to defeat?

I also had a bit of trouble with this.

I recall I used Zhang Fei, killing officers at the castle until I was instructed to destroy the catapults. Then I went to the base where the officer is hiding in wait, killed him, jumped down the ladder, then IGNORED everyone for the guy in charge of the catapults, then went to the exit of the retreating officers with horse musou, waiting for all the messages to play out and Guo Jia to arrive. Then I killed them all and unlocked the condition. You did it right if you don't get the cutscene after defeating Guo Jia.

You have to wait until Guo Jia actually arrives and orders a retreat. Any officers killed before he shows up will make this not possible to complete. Try to have at least all 3 musou bars full, so you can charge with your horse, once the retreat order triggers.

I did wait for his order, Zhang Fei even comments on how he should defeat them all before they can retreat. So there must be some officer I'm missing, or I blitzed someone I wasn't supposed to.

I know there are at least two units of reinforcements that arrive while the catapults are being assembled in addition to the one group who gets stuck at the boulder trap.

In any case, I'll try again, this time sparing all the officers (save for Mr, Catapult) until Guo Jia gives the order.

There should be three waves of officers coming from the bottom-left corner, the last wave should have only 1 - 2 officers.
I don't remember exactly what I did, but either a). I killed the first 2 waves thus triggering the 3rd, and killed the ones after Guo Jia ordered the retreat, or b). I waited until Guo Jia ordered the retreat a rushed to the retreat point and killed all three waves (which should be at least 7 officers), remember that the last wave can retreat very quickly if you do not get there asap.

do NOT kill anyone from the bottom left path until the retreat order is given, you will automatically fail if one of them dies before the retreat order is given, horse mousu is your friend on this level

Wrong, there are 4 officers in total that you need to defeat.

Just play on Easy and use Red Hare.

Do not kill the Catapult officer too quickly, the reinforcement might retreat as soon as they come into the map and no amount of super speed boost will help you there. Wait until reinforcement come in if you need to make sure.

Make sure you equip a strong weapon so you can OHK officers, which makes the whole thing a breeze.

Thank you for the answers. I was apparently killing one particular officer before Guo Jia arrived.
