Infinite Saving screen [Solved]
Have completed two battles; One in story mode and one in free mode. Both times the games would stay on the saving screen from after the battle until I force closed the game. No data was saved, so I am unable to proceed until this is resolved. Also can't save the game from the oprions menu. Will try ambition mode but I expect the same result.

Found a solution. The issue was that I wasn't able to create a folder in the "My Documents" for save files. If you can troubleshoot that issue successfully, then just verify local files and away you go!! I had to do a number of things to get the documents folder totally under my adminstrator control.

May i ask how u did it?

I had to go into the properties of the my documents folder and "restore default" for administrator control. It was weird but I found several helpful posts regarding being unable to save, load or change settings in steam games in general.
More specifically than tat, I don't remember

found this in a different forum by "Skirr"

Apparently if your default my documents folder is custom mapped. Say onto a storage driver X-com can NOT create its config/save files. I tested this by creating a brand new user account and playing steam from there, worked flawlessly.

For windows 7, go to my computer. On the left hand pane click your username, this should list all of your specific user folders. Find your document folder, right click it and go to properties. Click on the location tab and click restore default.

A quick note on the next option.

IF you have a HUGE amount of files and your main drive is small like SSD click no to copy all of the previous files for now, otherwise it will fill your SSD with the old documents.

Once I did that, I re verified the integrity of the game files, and launched X-Com it went through a quick installation finished the folders and bam, I can play, save/load and change options.

well dam. Sounds really complicated bro... What the best soluton? Make a new windwos acc and download steam?

It's actually pretty simple. Y ou just need a little confidence. What you are trying to do is ensure that you have full access to all of your files. Take the time and do it right.

I'll try i guess. It really annoying.. Cuz the process sounds tedious.

one of the reason it became an issue for me in the first place I was pulling files on and off a communal external hard drive.

A little tedium now, and you can enjoy every future steam game you purchase. Just saying ...

Meh it just this game in general that being dumb.. All my other games are fine <.< gah dang
jeremiahjust Jul 2, 2014 @ 9:50pm
Well, since Steam doesn't madate that the game must install it's save folder in the steam folder; if you don't have full control of all of your folders, then other games you buy in the future could also be effected.

Plus I hate the idea of my computer telling me I don't have the right to create folders in an obviously personal location like my documents.

Does full control means being Admin on your computer or does it require a certain step?
