Controls? (Fixed)

The Keybaord controls suck ♥♥♥. I want to use my mouse but the game wont let me. I try pluging in my xbox controller but it does nothing. My controller works for other games I own why wont it work on this game?

It works, you just need to set the button mapping manually in the control options

For some people (not me, sadly), they have found it work if you go
Control Panel > Device Manager > Human Interface Devices, and disable all HID compliant Game controllers.

I had to enable my HID Compliant Controller (had it disabled for Dark Souls) for it to work. Now my problem is that the menu still shows keyboard inputs for menu options. Any way to change that?

Actually that's normal unfortunately. Even in game, they use symbols instead of button prompts.

Considering the game softlocks each time you re-map a key it's almost impossible to rebind them. Especially for me considering when i go to rebind a key for my controller, it always says camera down is already bound.

I can remap the key for player 2 but it won't work for player 1. Sounds like a game bug.

Have you tried unbinding all keys even for player 2?

I can do everything the game intended on the player two controlls. Complete remapping and the menu doesn't freeze.

try deleteing all remap on second, then do the first. it worked gor me.

For the ones that are having their controllers detected as a second player, I went to the Driver Manager and set the controller as a preferred device. Once I reloaded the game, it sets itself as P1.

Okay guys, I think I may have an answer to your problem. I was looking up answers for a similar problem, my Player 1 Gamepad settings were fine, but my Player 2 gamepad setting had none. When I tried to input my own controls with my second controller, nothing happened.

Here is what I did to fix it.
1) Go to Documents>TecmoKoei>DW8
2) you will see two files; one called inputmap1.dat and inputmap2.dat (1 is for player 1 and 2 is for player 2)
3)Delete whichever file is not working, copy the other file and rename it as the file you just deleted. (So if my player 1 was working, but my player 2 had no inputs, I would delete inputmap2.dat, copy inputmap1.dat and rename the "new" inputmap1-copy.dat as inputmap2.dat

This will make it so all the settings for player 2 will mirror the settings of Player 1.
