I asked this question in the 'Japanese voices?' thread. I got this excellent response:

The game is made by a Japanese developer; imagine the financial/legal issues they would face having to hire over 100 Chinese people (that most people simply don't know) to do voice-overs year-after-year-after-year.

Also, I can name at least 10 Japanese voice actors who play characters in DW games but I can't name one FAMOUS Chinese voice actor. We wouldn't want KT to just get some random people off the street and tell them that they're going to voice legendary heroes/heroines of their OWN country's history. Namco can do it because they only have 3 characters in Tekken who are Chinese; most KT games based on the Records of the Three Kingdoms (not the Romance) have hundreds or characters (most of whom are voiced).

KT already gets enough flack in NA/EU region for not having English voices in Warriors Orochi 3.

KEOI are a bunch of lazy mother ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ then! LOL ...and Japanese voices in this game sucks aRss. They could hire chinese movie actors and I highly doubt that they would need to hire over 100 people to do the voices of the actual 82 playable warriors since talented actors are able to change their voices. Besides... each character of the game doesn't have that many lines to say. If money is their issue then, hey, i get it.

I don't know if you are being serious or not but the Japanese voices are excellent. In Dynasty Warriors 3 there's Chinese voice in the Chinese version of the game but seriously Japanese voices still sounded better. And this comes from someone who speaks both Chinese and Japanese.

And also just for your knowledge, many of the VAs in the game are actually VERY famous voice actor/actress who have appeared in many animes/TVs/movies dub in Japan. And those people are celebrities in Japan, unlike the rest of the world where VAs are mostly just behind the scene obscure people. Many fans of the game in Asia actually play the game partly because of those voices. They sell more copies by having famous VAs in the game.

So yeah, it's not about the money. It's just the culture there and what's popular.

I'm being serious with my opinion yet, I stated my opinion in a funny way. You got offended? Not my problem you're so sensitve. I'm entitle to my opinions, what i like and my expectations for these games. You, the asians and everyone else can do the same. That doesn't bother me. Have fun! ^_^

I want my Prince of Perisa in Farsi! Why would they use Yuri Lowenthal, an AMERICAN to play a prince who's clearly from PERSIA? LOL UBISOFT R LAZY.

Also, Sleeping Dogs is CLEARLY a product of lazy developers who had a KOREAN AMERICAN voice all his lines in English in a game that's clearly set in Hong Kong! Racists, the whole lot of them!

I agree with you, dude! ^_^

I'm not offended but just wanted to let you know why there's no Chinese voice as you seemed to get all worked up about it. You are entitled to your opinion.

I'm glad we cleared that out. :)
Very poor excuse. Hank Azaria was the voice of about 300 different characters on The Simpsons: http://simpsons.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Characters_voiced_by_Hank_Azaria

We're not even asking for quality, "famous" voice actors. The whole Dynasty Warriors series is a cheezfest; seriously you have your pick of millions of people who would gladly read a handful of lines for a credit and maybe a catered lunch.

MXC had someone cast as the voice of "Everygirl" and guess what...it worked out fine.

Why I cant Have Total War Rome with Latin voice acting? Lazy developer
Last edited by Mixue Pizza; Jun 3, 2014 @ 1:53am
That might be valid if the number of people worldwide who speak Latin today compares to the number of people who speak Mandarin.
adbe Jun 3, 2014 @ 8:03pm
lol and then you realise people in ancient China didn't speak Mandarin (if you read poems in mandarin they don't usually rhyme, easy way to tell), so even if there's chinese voice acting its not an accurate account of the history.
