Multiplayer on PC would have required greater knowledge on Steamworks and I don't think TK is the most experienced publisher on this platform.
Also the multiplayer is horribad either way. You can get as good experience by playing split-screen with your cat/dog/goldfish.
Original post:
"How can they justify the pricing?"
They're just mad and jumping up and down having a hissy fit because their mommy and daddy won't buy them the games they want.
Ah, the patented "You must be a child" defense...
Content is not 100% of the value of the game, and I'm not even sure why you're trying to quantify it that way. It doesn't matter how much "content" they want to rehash and cram into this title, or the next - if they're not willing to go the extra mile to put the same features in all versions of the game, I'd like to see a price drop. Also, as far as standards go, many games on console are $10 more expensive than their PC counterparts. NBA 2K14 is $40 on console, $30 on Steam. Dead Rising 2 was more expensive on consoles, and the list goes on. The PC version priced at $40 would be closer to a standard.
I'm quite familiar with this company. I've been playing their games since they switched from PC sales and started making games. There's no real reason to justify taking features away from the PC port. It's not worth the $50 price tag in this state.
This is past the 8th game in the line, even though it says "8". This all started as "The Romance of the Three Kingdoms" and there were plenty of those, then Dynasty Warriors. There's also a Samurai-themed spin-off series. There's no way you can convince me that a 35+ year old company who has released well over a dozen titles in this series alone can't manage to put a half-decent net code to direct connect for online co-op at the least . They have the resources to hire someone competent. SNES emulators have the same feature. It was a choice to strip the feature, and to me, that makes it worth less.
That doesn't make the game less fun, but the experience as a whole suffers tremendously. We're in an age where we're connected to other side of the world - utilize the most powerful tool known to man. It's a stranger concept today to NOT use the internet than it was to use it when it started. You were a huge nerd then if you understood the start of it, and today you're a huge idiot if you don't use it.
Oh, and "budget indie games" is how the entire industry started, so let's celebrate our roots, not condemn them.
